Luuk De Jong was crap for Newcastle, so was Siem De Jong (though he was a goalscoring midfielder).

Afonso Alves terrible for Boro. Bony did well for Swansea. Vincent Janssen dogshit for Spurs. Kuyt was alright but had to adapt into a hard working winger rather than a great goalscorer as he was in Holland. Altidore was crap, so was Kezman. Ryan Babel not great. Suarez one of the best signings in the premier league. Depay ****e.

A lot more misses than hits, I'd say.

Well considering Anderson and Tom Cleverley made more starts than him in his final season, I'm going to go ahead and say not Paul Scholes.

    Pogba is barely Cleverley

There's a thought, why not buy him back too?

I'd say stamina is an important attribute to have, especially as a midfielder.

Saying he was the best midfielder in the premier league at the time basically means if you were offered a choice of any centre mid in the PL at that time you'd take him.

I'd take Lampard, Gerrard, Toure, Dembele, Ramires, Allen, Carrick, Cazorla, Barry, Cabaye, Tiote etc. all over him at that stage of their respective careers. I could carry on but I'm sure you get the message, a player that can only play 8 games in a season is no ****ing good to anyone.

Wait a second. So Moyes agreed to put the ball out of play in 26th minute??? You can't do that surely

Its like zlatan walking off the park leaving psg with 10 men in their last game.

Imo sunderland shoyld be fine and have points deduced for game rigging.

606 phone in savaged terry for this bullshit. You should do whatever before or after game to have your balls licked but during game? Its not a testimonaial.

I think it depends on the role they play - central midfield is a very diverse position where you have deep lying playmakers, box to box, defensive midfielders etc.

You can argue that the likes of scholes, pirlo, Alonso were never seen physical or dynamic like Kante but they were world class in the role they performed.

    You what...

Alonso... he was tough as nails and coyld kick lads with the best of them. Ran further than kuyt in games too.

Pirlo is a totally different sort. Between the lines passer.

If i were offered kante or alonso theres obly one id pick.

No disrespect cos if i were offered kante or masch i would pick kante there.

In short i'd take alonso over just about any cm of the past 15 years.

Alonso was tough but he was a mash or a Kante in terms of physicality.

But that's the point - it all depends on the role they play. I wouldn't want Alonso running all over the pitch. I want him on the ball doing what he does best.

He was that good positionally you missed it then. He could smash a guy in a challenge no bother.

Also the fact is he covered 12km every game week in week out minimum but everyone misses it cos his running was off the ball covering everywhere and always being there for a pass.

His record speaks for itself. Medals everywhere and the very top clubs loving him... the point is it was what he did best. Super on the ball but off it he was inspired

A play like masch looks spactacular sliding in and that but when you are in position and just block stuff off people notice less.
