Good win in the end. Boro tried to make it difficult (like they've done for most teams this season) and if they'd had any forwards of note they might have scored. But they haven't and they didn't. 2nd half was very much as I expected, once the doggedness of Boro was broken with a goal they crumbled and we looked comfortable all over the pitch and probably should have scored more.
Well done lads!! We did it!! Klopp made some poor decisions throughout the season but what a job this guy has done. This is what happens when you bring in a quality manager - you get results. First full season and we get top 4, after reaching two cup finals last season. As Frank said, progress ...
Another shoutout to Coutinho - please play him in CM! That role is perfect for him (unfortunately, it also means he's the natural replacement for iniesta).
Pleased with that. Actually didn't think we'd get top 4 so made up. Need to buy quite a few players to make anything out of next year.
This needs a picture of a guy off the fast show in a tux with a bottle of champers.... Me the 13th earl of Sudbury, here..... entering the convent....
Interesting. Given the relative disparity in entertainment... I see Everton "earned" 132mil... they were on tv less than us basically cos nobody with a brain would watch them. Who said if they were playing in his back garden he would pull the blinds I think the even share should be halved and money put into places in table. The gaps not big enough imo. It's almost communist this even share stuff.
Thought he was really poor first half although everyone was. For me he was far too deep, picking it up off the centre backs. If I was a Boro players that's exactly where I'd want Cout on the ball. Now probably wasn't helped by lack of movement up top for him to make passes and Boro sitting so deep that was no where to run. When there is space in the game like v West Ham worked well. As he can pick it up and drive or find a good ball, but when it's congested just seems wasted going so deep. Still need someone that can run at players in those tight areas around the box. Suarez was a master at it, didn't always work, for lucky bounces but the ambition to just run at someone meant they had to make a tackle and in and around the box that's always dangerous. Our whole team, including Cout seem afraid to run at someone when they get there, often going for the sidewards pass or the shot in Couts case.
