Lets give Richardson a break, I know we like a scape goat but come on.

I will support anyone who tries his best and IMO Richardson does. Is he a great LB, no and he sometimes makes mistakes but he does the best he can, If we need to slate someone then slate Bruce, he picks him and all Richardson does is play.

He has been used at LB/LW/CM and second striker, a role he did well at last season and we should be saying thank you Ricco for doing your best for the team.

Now before you all start with he is not a LB, I’m not saying he is, just saying he does his best and that’s all we can ask.

Well i dont really think the pen was "all" his fault, its like the Corners thread we are discussing.

They left Saurez up, we had both CD up for the corner, quick break and we are knackered, he probably shouldnt have belted it straight at Suarez but when you have a player bearing down on you, you tend to panic a bit. Especially as the last defender and you are on the half way line.

Facts are, the pen should have been a free kick for Suarez gaining an advantage by handling the ball, That's the rub.

OK so we have ago at Bruce for picking him is that what you are saying?

I thought after a run at LB last season he was starting to get the hang of it but he then was switched to LW/Cm and 2nd striker...too many positions, he was dire on saturday.

So Get McBardo back at LB, get another proven striker in and sort out LW even Rico as he has aleft foot.

I agree he makes mistakes and I agree that when O'Shea comes in he will probably lose out. Just saying its not his fault he is playing LB, he does his best and thats all we can ask of him.

After that its Bruce who picks the team so its Bruce who is to blame.

All that said I think he could make a LB if given time.

Didn't say anything of the sort, actually mate, i merely mocked syd in a light hearted manner.

Remember, i have long since been one of Ricco's defenders, and i am also 100% behind Bruce.

Where does'so we have a go at Bruce' come from in that?

Keep slagging him off people, watch him burst the net on Saturday. He'd be in my starting 11 for the Barcodes game.

Bardo LB, Ricco LW for me on Saturday. They did brilliantly together down the wing vs chelsea last season, and would do so again imo if given the chance.

But as Syd says, Bruce picks the team not us,

McShane and Nosworthy give it their all Syd. Should we get them back in the first team fold?

I would wholeheartedly agree with Moorsley and Brucies Beak in respect that I would love to see him score the winner on Saturday. But back to the main point of this discussion, when a club is short of a particular player in one position, they will utilise certain players to fill in. The problem is that they do not always come up to our expectations. In many respects this has happened to Richardson on numerous occassions. And yes I have been one of his biggest critics, but what I will say is that the lad just does not concentrate for 90 minutes. Look at his past at the SoL, the goals weve conceeded and the majority are down to him, compared to other players. I hope in all honesty that come Saturday night or Sunday morning every Sunderland supporter comes on here and slags me off something terrible when Richardson scores the winner.<cheers>

Now thats just silly but TBH I liked both for the same reason. Not saying Richardson is Mr Great all I am saying that he tries his best, yes can have lapses in concentration and yes he makes mistakes and yes I would prefer Bardo, O'Shea or even Anton at LB. All I am saying is if he is LB and if he tries his best there I honestly dont see what else he can do.

Did he tell Bruce not to buy a LB or LW.

And no I'm not saying Bruce Out.

I like Nosworthy, gave his all and was actually all right on his day, but mcshane was an all out liability. I wouldnt play mcshane in the championship.

I cant beleive you are comparing richardson to him, its an insult to any league 2 player never mind ricco.

His point was that being a tryer is simply not enough.

Richardson is not a defender i have kept saying that, like Julio arco the same, surely we have enough defenders now to cope. Anyhow the derby game is sold out!.
