We only scored one more home goal than a pretty tragic Sunderland side this season, how anyone can defend that as a saints fan is madness. Take away the wins away at Sunderland and WBA, the last min equaliser at home to Sunderland and were not far off scrapping from our premier league status. Luckily the bottom half of the table has been poor this year , otherwise we would of been right in the ****!

You can't say "take away games that we won" - that makes no sense to do that. If my uncle had tits he'd be my aunt.

Nobody is defending our recent home form either. They are trying to look at the reasons as to why it's been so poor.

Just getting myself psyched up for a long journey home to lots of smug scousers! And now I find myself liking a Tom post and agreeing 100%!!!.

I will be forever grateful for that win at Anfield that allowed me to sing "We're going to Wembley" to the rapidly emptying Kop. We were a bit crap today, weren't we, and I expected very little else. But if Puel is driven out by people who really should know better I will be seriously pissed off.

Does not matter what the fans think - it's whether the club think Puel is taking the club forward in the direction they want. Failing to score in five consecutive home games doesn't help and losing seven home games this season also is not helpful for his cause.

I still think our rather limp displays in the Europa League might be the death knell - playing for a 0-0 draw at home in a game we could have won has not been forgotten. It might be a very long time before we qualify again and being in Europe was something the club was striving for and proud of. Now we're back to square one.

Personally I think he's been 'gone' for a few weeks and these final few games have just underlined it.

I really couldn't care less either way just for the record - I'm resigned to fact that we are middling top flight club who might flirt with a top six finish occasionally and might flirt with relegation too but are just going to finish between 15th and 8th until we finally balls it up one season and get relegated.

    Agree with this.
He was let down today by not having the right players.
No good getting to the bye line and getting crosses into decent areas if you don't have the midfielders backing up the striker, by getting into the right places to receive the crosses.
Happened too often, again, today. Especially first half.
    Second half Butland was superb.
    Roll on next season.

Why should we take those wins away? Yeah, the team looks bad if you remove 9 points from the total. You don't think the 12 teams below us had some games where you could randomly award them 0 points as well?

Been watching the Citeh game with two Citeh supporters and a Sunderland supporter. All three think that we have had a good season and that expecting, not hoping, to do better is a case of fans thinking we are better than we are. The top 6 will always be the top 6 in a normal season. That means we can only hope to be 7th unless we spend the kind of money they spend. To many self indulgent late comers to the Saints story. A good season used to be not being in the bottom three and getting relegated. Rant over. No blue writing.

Just putting into perspective how lucky we've actually been this season. 40 points about keeps you up on an average year, we finished 8th with 46. Had Virgil not played the first half of the season I truly believe we would of fighting for our lives.

Oh come on Chilco......... the home results of late have been nothing but sad. In fact relegation form probably. While I agree the players have not appeared to put a lot of effort in. Which makes me think they are just not playing for him. We have all been prepared to make excuses but at the end of the day if the players aren't with you, you will struggle as we have of late. Who would like to be the ones to make the decisions........? Not me that's for sure.......we will find out soon enough......

This. 100% this. For some reason a lot of our fans have got above themselves and think we are in the mix for challenging European places, we are much more likely to go down than finish top 6. Lots of other clubs have done similar to us (finish top 10 a number of seasons running, made domestic final) then gone down pretty quickly afterwards. Football is such a fast changing industry that you can't plan for the next 3 years really as you simply have no ****ing clue what is going to happen in that time.

I learnt in the 1960's that a sizeable minority of football fans are ****ers, so nothing surprises me nowadays. I do despair at humanity in general sometimes, but there seems to be a larger proportion among football fans to despair about.
