    So was Shilts here then?

The two fees by the way, were pre-set in Keegan's contracts at Hamburg and then Saints.

According to the Sunday Mirror, Spurs have let it be known that want away right back, Kyle Walker can go but for £40 m. That's gives us a bench mark for want away left back Ryan Bertrand surely.
Although he has been a very good player, his form and constant injury issues, if we get £40m then I would drive him up to City myself.
We have two perfectly good LBs to step in and that cash would help fill in the gaps elsewhere

If anyone is willing to pay £40 million for Bertrand after his fairly mediocre season, then let's try not to burst out laughing until after we cash the cheque.

Not quite sure about constant injury issues. He played all games bar the three he was suspended for in his first season and had knee operations the next summer. He missed a few at the start this season, but he's hardly a player I would say had constant injury problems a la Gaston.

I do hope that fans aren't expecting £40m for Bertrand or I can see another summer of the board getting bashed for under selling our players (which isn't true).

Are we so sure Bertrand wants to be away? I know he is not happy with the style of football we are playing (sorry cannot tell you my source) and for what ever reason he is not armoured with Puel. Not sure he is after being away from the club though.

If rumours Puel is off are true, then any player who was considered unhappy with Puel who also leaves is being a twat.

I just get this feeling that there is a lot of jumping to conclusions going on...........From the recent conversations I have had with my source it would appear that there is not too much disharmony in the players camp. A few disappointed players its true........and not shy by all accounts of venting their opinion. But want away players? That does not equate with what my source is hearing........Granted, as we all know ....things can change.........We will know one way or tother over the next few weeks!!

I think someone said on here recently that it's normal for any employees in any business to moan about their job, their boss, etc. When I was a manager at Royal Mail and the troops were having a moan, I used to say "The door's over there lads". Cue a bit of muttering, but no one ever moved for it until they got a better offer - and quite a few who did leave ended up banging on the door to be let back in.

The difference is in real life (like you and I live in) the managers generally have the power however in the unreal world of football the players have the all power

For a simple reason: those of us in the real world are, more or less, replaceable cogs. It may take training or some schooling to do a thing, but not any sort of otherworldly talent. There are, conversely, a finite number of top-level football players, and thus their scarcity makes them far higher priorities than you or I or Archer's minions.

Absolutely correct and add to that players have fixed term contracts and have a potential transfer fee on their head

Not sure what either of your posts are leading to. They could be interpreted as underlining how hard a job Puel had this season.

What were you trying to say? Apologies if I lost it in the flow of conversation.

I'm trying to say that the reason that football players have more power is scarcity: there are fewer of them at their level of performance than there are potential office drones or whatever other occupation one might suggest.
