We can't under estimate the role of Eric Black either. An experienced assistant manager whose last job was with a relighted Villa who had serious behind the scenes issues across the whole squad (I know someone who works behind the scenes at Villa) and the club we're glad when he left I can fully understand why we employed him as he is a fluent French speaker and would help CP get his message over whilst he worked on his English. Loosing Sammy Lee and replacing with EB probably hasn't worked more than CP himself
And I didn't even post it , although it was discussed TSS .... about half a dozen posts above when you posted it. I was just ribbing you.
And a large chunks of the fan base who have developed a sense of entitlement because they've decided they must be entertained, not truly understanding what backing a team involves.
I always support Saints. Whatever. I will however be a little bit ashamed if Puel goes (looking likely now). I'll be ashamed by the fans failure (in my opinion) to support him properly and by the Board's failure to back him with time. A little ashamed too if the players haven't beeen more grown up. He is clearly a good coach. He clearly hasn't got everything right or had us playing in a swashbuckling style, but he did say from day one that he would play a style to cope with the fixture list. He said that at the start. Nobody cared to listen. I've been embarrassed by the moaning at the early season rotation by fans. It had to be done or we'd have had even more injuries. It just showed ignorance. Most of all I've been ashamed at how quickly he fans gave up on him. The diamond formation was battered after game one, yet any man who has belief in himself would keep trying something they believed in even if it wasn't working. He had to give that time but within the first few games, the fans wanted it stopped. Anything new takes time. If he goes, he'll get a big thanks from me and then I'll get back to supporting my club, but with my head held low for a few weeks. We've not done right by this man. I'm not a Puel Apologist (shocking thing to say Ian) but I am a man who believes in treating people right and giving them a chance. Puel hasn't had the chance.
He said as he peered down from above In all fairness, as always is the case, there is truth on both sides of the fence. As for me, I just like the fence I sit on...
Billy you are right, there is truth on both sides of the fence, but the fans turned way too quickly in my opinion. I stand by my opinion that some of our fans haven't behaved very well over this. Call me condescending, self-righteous or whatever, but I don't like the recent attitude of a lot of our fans. It's been like that for ages.
Oh i agree. Could be something as simple as puel has not settled in England, could be any number of things. Sadly i feel we may never know
Fats, you know i was joking, and people have jumped too early, while others have been too quick to judge the judges. As for me, I just serve the servants. My view is that a small minority on both sides voice an opinion, and others chop and change to suit one side, both sides as the wind changes. The news made an entire industry on it, and it makes me smile thinking of lemmings. I for one really appreciate your views as you are strong in your conviction and beliefs, for me that deserves the utmost respect, that and you talk a good game too
Trouble is as usual we can only get half the story (if that) All this so called in the know interpretations of statements and rumours get on my nerves at times. The guy really needs another season, but wether he gets it is another thing and if he does then above all he needs proper backing by the board....not just words.............
Yeh it does. But the "Puel out" side are the ones groaning, whining and booing at the ground. Told a gooner mate of mine last night about the boos at the final whistle on Wednesday. He couldn't believe it. I doubt any neutral could believe it tbf. He asked where would finish in the league; when I said 8th he looked even more bemused. I pointed out that it's not me that's wrong in the head, I don't ****ing boo - ever.
If we are to have new owners, Puel may be surplus to requirements anyway. A combination of dull football and player power won't help, just ask Claudio Ranieri. Loyalty is a 2 way street except in football where it's business first. If Puel goes it'll be a shame, but now it seems it's our turn to dump on from a great height and we are due.
