It won't. If they are banned from promotion - which won't happen - they'd promote the runners up instead.
Would the play off losers deserve it? They haven't won anything to earn promotion. We haven't earned the right to stay up. Somebody would have to get something they don't deserve. Alternatively it could pave the way for Celtic to join the Premier League...

It's amazing that Reading have been in the top 6 all season. Finished 3rd with 85 pts (which most seasons would be enough for auto). Yet no one gives them a hope in hell of winning the play-offs.
