Missing spot kick can be very expensive.We have spot kick specialists. I would put them in order if playing the following must be considered. 1.Dirk Kuyt. 2.Steven Gerrard. 3.Luis Suarez. 4.Andy Carrol 5.Raul Meireless. What do you think.?
No Adam? If Gerrard's there they'd have to kill him to stop him taking them. Kuyt, for me, if he's on the pitch ( at the moment, I would still like to see him start games). Then Adam or Suarez. I haven't seen many of Suarez' spot kicks for Ajax but I'm told he did well.
for me kenny should have this out and make it clear. I perosnally think that based on all i've seen; 1. gerrards got better at pens but this is an ego thing. (he was pretty average when he started taking them) 2. Every one dirk has taken has been top drawer. 3. Adam is a very good penalty taker and has options with his kicks to use. 4. the shcoker suarez pulled off yesterday could just be put down to him just ebing back in training this week and not being reday... i don't know but right now if i was the guy chosing i'd be demanding he prove himself every day for about a month alongside the others before i'd even consider him for one. technique wise yesterdays was a complete howler.
gerrard he will take them when fit Kuyt don't think he's ever missed one for us Adam- he always seemed to score them for Blackpool
During the game, I really did not expect Suarez to take it, I thought for sure Adam would but ah well, hindsight and all that. If anyone should it has to be Kuyt, he is mint at PK's, side netting almost every time.
I always think it is a good idea for strikers to take penalties - Suarez missed one, but that wont happen often. He showed his composure and scored straight after, the sign of a great player. Kenny said in his interview that it was up to the players to decide who takes it - im guessing we have 3 or 4 that Kenny suggests to step up (Suarez, Adam, Kuyt, Gerrard) and depending on who feels right at the time will step up and do the do. I say a striker taking them has the advantage of building confidence - but Adam should be in contention due to his previous record

Just thought I'd point it out before someone er.., shall we say, less sympathetic jumped on it. Here, when we say side netting, we mean outside.
Dont know where you've got Carroll from, only one I've seen him score was in a friendly for us last year and there was no technique, just smashed it.
