It's ridiculous ,in my opinion, that your centre forward won't take a penalty in a shoot out.
Nobody wants to take one but those best suited have to have some balls and step up when they're needed.

He'll never live this down, far more than if he'd taken one and missed.

I don't agree - sorry. Some of the best penalty takers aren't always centre forwards.

    Lampard and Baines.

Agreed re some of the best penalty takers not being strikers but how much has Rhodes cost over the years?

He's paid daft amounts to score goals.

If he can't take some responsibility in putting the ball in the back of the net from 12 yards and leaves it to someone else then he needs to take a look at himself.

    No bottle.

    IMO.

For the record my stats in penalty shoot outs are taken one, scored one and I was a defensive midfielder. Rhodes, take note.

He's a striker, their record signing, the most experienced penalty taker on the pitch, a player who's been poor this season, yet he won't take a penalty?

Can you imagine if, when we signed Proschwitz, he'd refused to take a penalty in a shoot out? We'd have crucified him.

He bottled it, he deserves all the **** he's getting and it's going to result in a terrible start to his permanent deal with the Wendies.

Some strikers are instinctive finishers. It's a very different scenario standing in front of a crowd in a penalty situation.

I've just looked at PL penalty takers this season and I'm surprised at how many aren't strikers.

Mahrez, Sanchez, Cazorla, Dele, Toure, De Bruyne, Tadic, Lanzini, Noble, Milner, Krkic, Walters, Adam, Hazard, Baines, Sigurdsson, Chadli, Milivojevic, Cabaye, Stanislas, Arter and Huddlestone.

It seems there's a lot of strikers that don't like penalties.

I would have accepted his decision. Speak for yourself not some pompous tart who purports to represent all city fans and I bet has never taken a penalty in his life.

That's a list of people who have taken penalties, not a list of the main penalty takers for each club.

De Bruyne isn't Man City's penalty taker, he's only taken one this season, Aguero's taken five.

Same with Alli at Spurs, he's only taken one, Kane's taken six.

Obviously some clubs have a penalty taker who's not a striker, Snodgrass was our first choice, but it's very rare for strikers to not take a penalty in a shoot out.

I'd fancy scoring a penalty against anyone.

I was shocked to see Hudd's first two penalty takers be their left back and centre back. Then the commentator said they were German and I fully understood, great penalties.

Rhodes bottled it. If your best finisher isn't confident enough to finish from the penalty spot, how can anybody else be?

Agreed. I actually don't know how he recovers his Wendy career from this.

You also have to ask why the manager has outed him? He really could've kept it to himself if he wanted to, which suggests that he wanted to name and shame him. Great start for your shortly to be new signing.

    Exactly.

Even subconsciously it must affect a player who isn't used to taking penalties to see that their number one striker doesn't think he'll score.

    Bound to miss.

Some deep thinking **** right there.

They've still taken penalties - in league games. Haven't they?

Funny you haven't gone through the whole list.

Penalties awarded by club and number taken by non recognised centre forward.

Mahrez taken 5 from 6 awarded
    Sanchez/Cazorla 5 from 6 awarded
    Alli/Lamela 2 from 9 awarded
    Toure/De Bruyne 3 from 9 awarded
    Tadic 2 from 6 awarded
    Lanzini/Noble 4 from 4 awarded
    Milner 8 from 8 awarded
    Krkic/Walters/Adam 5 from 6 awarded
    Hazard 3 from 4 awarded
    Baines 3 from 3 awarded
    Sigurdsson 3 from 3 awarded
    Chadli 1 from 1 awarded
    Milivojevic/Cabaye 3 from 7 awarded
    Stanislas/Arter 3 from 10 awarded
    Huddlestone 1 from 3 awarded

Bournemouth have had 10 penalties this season :emoticon-0104-surpr:emoticon-0104-surpr

Maybe he thought, ' I get paid a fraction that this ****house gets and he's let me down big time. I'll be getting sacked in the morning, cheers Jordan. Tell you what I'll let everyone know what a bottleless tit you are. No need to thank me'.

    Or something like that anyways.

I didn't think it warranted that much effort.

It's very rare for a centre forward to not take a penalty in a shoot out. FACT.
