<laugh> bottom line is yes, you are right. Should be about the beautiful game and banter between fans. The rest is absolutely tiresome.

Just wanted to back this comment.

I enjoy the Spurs board because I think it's a place where we can discuss the team and the game sensibly.
Got an unpopular opinion about a system, a player or a team? Post away.
People will disagree, but you probably won't be called a ****ing idiot for saying it or at least the comment won't last.

I also enjoy the Premier League board, but for entirely different reasons.
I've called it Not606's no-man's-land in the past and it's probably even more true nowdays.
Feel free to stick your head above the trench walls, but don't be too surprised if somebody shoots it off.

There's something to be said for both approaches. Neither is right or wrong.

  3. Don't ever post off the Spurs board (which is an oasis of calm and reasoned discussion 99.9% of the time), but occasionally take a peek on PL and other clubs boards. There are a few individuals who seem to regularly post generally abusive, racist and homophobic comment with impunity.
On Not606 it appears that wumming is a greater sin....... <whistle>

Yep, I like spending time on both.

My decent and football side loves the Spurs board.

The **** in me loves the Prem board.

Some boards don't see that as a problem. That's up to the regulars on those sections, within reason.
I think that some of it clearly crosses a line, but I just don't go to those parts of the site.
I'm happy to dish out some abuse on the Premier League board though, I must admit! <laugh>

    Like PNP I enjoy both.

I can discuss the club I follow on here. Equally I can hold my own ( see that would cost me a rude comment on the Prem board) in the banter that goes on there.

I agree about the constant stream of infantile insults, but there's only a few guilty of that. Mostly it's banter, and some of those guys are genuinely very witty and funny.

Not 606 health warning!: Not for the sensitive! If you can't take a jibe and constantly 'bite', they'll crucify you!...

Must admit I've not seen actual racial/ homophobic abuse on the Prem board myself (although one or two lads have sigs supposedly quoting racist behaviour from an individual) but the abuse can be rife... And I quite enjoy that. I generally have "18+ rated" banter with mates so I see it as a home from home so to speak at times.

Wumming for me needs to be done right. Saying "your club's ****"/ "how many trophies or games you won?!" or just calling people a "prick/ ****" etc is just boring, original and repetitive. That's why I like stuff by HIAG, Spurlock, Skylarker and one or two others, they have a knack of saying some funny **** that clearly gets under people's skin. HIAG's threads are for me, at times, bloody genius, because it's so clearly a wind up and yet many fall into the trap of believing he's being dead serious and then start throwing some serious shade at him, which he brushes off with further wummery! <laugh>
