Yeah Malis in it. So could be without, Maiga, Ameobi, Ba. But think Best would be a decent stand in for a month

Mali hasn't clinched qualification yet and need to win in September to win the group. Otherwise they're unlikely to qualify out of the runners up group

    Fair point.

It still strikes me as strange though, I thought Ashley was trying to tighten the purse strings and a player like Cissokho would surely want a high wage?

If the club can clear Smith and Xisco off it's wage bill that frees up over £100k per week.

Also, looks like Lovenkrands may be off to the SPL.

Wages are being freed up and Ligue 1 isn't construed as a high paying league.

If we could agree a fee with Lyon, and attract Cissokho to join, I'd take my hat off to Pardew and co. on this one.

Love these two to come in but Cissokho seems a bit unrealistic? If they can pull that one off I'd be over the moon. He actually wouldn't be a downgrade from Enrique from what I've seen. As I say I'd be shocked.

All sounds promising tho cant say i know anything about them. Can anyone explain why most seem to prefer Cissokho to Pieters who has more national caps and can also play cb? cheers

Hmm.. I suppose we could be alright for a few games without African players..

Also, I just saw on the SSN website that we're interested in Odemwingie, contract talks have stalled apparently.

Because Pieters is poor, he'd do terrible in the Premier League at left back and Cissokho is one of the best young left backs around at the moment. Also France have quality left backs where as Holland have no quality left backs. It's not rocket science

Pieters sounds decent but I know much more about Cissokho than him so I can't really compare the two.
    Cissokho is outstanding though.
Reminds me of Evra to be honest!

Hmmm.. Too good to be true? I'm confident that Maiga will come but can't see us getting Cissokho.

My own reasoning would be based on what little I've seen I rate Cissokho a fair bit higher ability wise. The lad is an absolute beast and great athlete. He'd have no trouble over here. I would simply pick him because I've only seen little bits of Pieters and he doesn't look nearly as good. As for centre back, I'm probably a lone voice on this front, but I'm quite happy for Kadar to be our 4th choice as I like him and think he needs to be given a chance.

Pieters is not as good as Enrique and to be fair, the Dutch international team's defence is pretty average. Cissokho might even be a step up from Enrique if he adapts to the league on the other hand.

Yeah this, I think Cissokho will fit in easily.
