For once there are two games left and nothing to worry about. I plan to enjoy the race for CL from the very comfortable vantage point of above all that. I agree Arsenal will win their last two, I can't believe City will manage to fall from third to fifth, so the only question is whether Liverpool can avoid slipping up.
61% possession 11 shots to 0 (albeit only two on target) 6 corners to 0 ...best not say another word, I might RCL it.
Arsenal's completely and utterly sold out ground (honest) at kick-off: please log in to view this image Official attendance: ****ing full, blud.
I'm trying to work out which clause is worse: Defoe's relegation release clause, or the clause saying Borini can go for £6m if they go down - which expects people to pay £6m for Borini
64% possession 35 shots to 4 13 shots on target to 2 17 corners to 3 ...and yet Alexis Sanchez is the only player with the quality to make something of it.
Just seen a tweet stating that liverpools game on Sunday will be their 29th live premier league game on TV this season. 29 of 38 is a apparently a new record in 1 season. Bet the pundits are furious about the other 9 games!
They were live on SuperSport because they are allowed to show Saturday 15:00 kick offs here. Should I start a business selling South African DSTV boxes and big f_off Satelite Dishes in mouseland?
To be fair, the only drama left is around the final 2 CL places, so will forgive them for this weekend
On one hand that is ****ing ridiculous. On the other hand, does anyone want to watch WBA, Stoke, West Ham, Palace, Southampton, etc., etc.? Money eventually ****s up most things and maybe the PL is going to get its just desserts in the coming years. Six or seven teams trying to win the Wenger trophy which contains plates to print even more money. The rest just don't want the money to dry up and BFS, Pulis, etc are gold dust. Guaranteed place at the trough. **** the football and the fans. Increasingly, the owners of these clubs don't even live on the same continent. Why should they give a ****? Clubs outside the Top 6 already declare in the FA Cup. Some have turned up at WHL and gone through the motions this season, no doubt reckoning that it's a waste of effort to do otherwise. Maybe more of the money should be doled out based on where you finish in the league to encourage a bit more ambition? Between the huge bag of money given out, performance no object and the bigger clubs still nicking your best players, what is the point of supporting a Pulis WBA?
Not sure clubs being on the beach is a club problem. I always thought it was the players and if more money is doled out to the club, it still wouldn't affect the players who will be on the beach.
You've not read it. I'm talking all season concentrating on getting 40 points and nothing more not getting the towels out in march and April!. A major part of the selling point of the PL is that no game is 100% predictable and the fans of every club make an atmosphere, especially against the bigger sides. Let's face it, it ain't the quality of the football a lot of the time. When clubs stop turning up against United of Chelsea or Spurs throughout the season we're on the way to Scottish/Spanish/German football. Some effort has to be made to ensure we don't go the same way and being owned by a bunch of foreigners who don't give a **** as long as the money's good isn't a great start.
Okay... but i'm not sure you are going to get more attractive football (and thus more people wanting to watch WBA etc) by making the league payout more for different places. If anything, these negative managers who exist in order to get results so that they don't get relegated will be even more negative as in their mind being negative gets them results, and it's the results that will keep them up the table. The reason our league is popular (imo) is that as you say, any team can beat any team and the money is shared out equally so that at least theres as much parity as you can get. Unlike in the other leagues where its normally 1 or 2 or 3 clubs who monopolise the league and the money isn't doled out correctly. I think part of it too is that the refs lets our players play a bit more rather than blowing up for lots of diving, minimal contact and cynical challenges. The bundesliga is probably closest to ours but they just don't have the global names there (except for bayern and dortmund)
A Poool loss by one goal and a Goon draw on the last day will be a good way for the PL to honour HIAGs' temporary absence.
I'm not for giving the top clubs more but if the owners knows that there's a bigger difference between 17th and 8th then there might be something more like the race for Wenger's 4th place trophy. All that represents is a race for cash and it's always a live issue up to the final game, like the play-off race. Make it worth the owners' while and it'll be like a fight in a bear pit.
would have to be 1-1 Arsenal and 0-2 Liverpool (or 2-2 1-3 etc). Would be epic! Does it go head to head or would there be another game?
