Best Driver: Worst Driver: Best Rookie/New Driver Best Team: Suprise Team: Worst Team: Best Overtake: Most Surprising Result: Least Surprising Result: Funniest moment: Excuse of the week: Special Mention: Best post from the race thread: Race Rating: ?/10
Best Driver: Lewis, although there were a few great drives today Worst Driver: Palmer, Stroll joint award but Bottas was close Best Rookie/New Driver Pascal and Ocon joint Best Team: FI Suprise Team: Sauber surprise pace Worst Team: Williams Best Overtake: Vettel on Bottas Most Surprising Result: Alonso quali Least Surprising Result: Kimi and Bottas not putting pressure on the front two Funniest moment: Excuse of the week: None of note Special Mention: Vettel who was unlucky, Perez and Hulk Best post from the race thread: Race Rating: 7.5/10 Still think Sochi was a cracker
Best Driver: Wehrlein Worst Driver: as bad as Stroll & Palmer were, WTF was Vandoorne thinking. Best Rookie/New Driver,Wehrlein, even though his silly mistake probably cost more points that Sauber will get in the rest of the season Best Team: Force India, doing a great job in the 'best of the rest' Su(R)prise Team: Sauber, shame about the silly mistake or could've been a magnificent race for them. Worst Team: hmm, Williams should be but I think ferrari messed up badly and could've won the race. Best Overtake: Vettel on Bottas was the pick, McLaren on a Williams down the straight was Most Surprising Result: Wehrlein Least Surprising Result:Stroll Funniest moment: Whenever Croft(y) opens his gob with an insight, I dunno if it's me but he always seems so far off the mark. Excuse of the week: Palmer for an F1 driver. Special Mention: of those I have yet to mention Vettel, Sainz, Kvyatt, Sauber strategists and both FI drivers. The young driver programs are producing some decent talent. Hamilton was ok, but had the fastest car, pole position and needed Bottas to block and Ferrari to drop the strategy ball to make it work. Sounded unfit (didn't he sack his personal trainer this year?) Best post from the race thread: This one, it's very insightful Race Rating: 7/10 A few good moves but wanting for Canada tbh, that's usually where it hots up (or pours down)
Best Driver: Hamilton, Vettel, Sainz Worst Driver: Palmer. How does he still have a seat. Even a pay driver would be better than him. Best Rookie/New Driver. Ocon. Best Team: Force India again Suprise Team: Mclaren. Worst Team: Williams by far Best Overtake: Vettel on Bottas Most Surprising Result: sauber in the points? Least Surprising Result: Vettel and HAMILTON on top Funniest moment: Vettel wishing Lewis tyre wear happened sooner Excuse of the week: Special Mention: the kid kimi make cry twice. Best post from the race thread: Race Rating: 9/10 that was a race and the standard the sport should aim for. Just need to remove DRS
Best Driver: Pascal Wehrlein Worst Driver: Stoffel Vandoorne - Is he worth the hype? Best Rookie: Ocon. Best Team: Mercedes got everything right...with Hamilton anyway. Suprise Team: Sauber had some decent pace. Wehrlein was able to pull out the 5 second gap over the Haas cars. Worst Team: McLaren. Started 7th, 3 big retirements and... oh dear. Seriously might lose to Sauber in the final standings. Best Overtake: Vettel on Bottas. Properly exciting stuff. Most Surprising Result: Pascal 8th Least Surprising Result: Vet vs Ham. Funniest moment: "Why always Massa?" Excuse of the week: "Why always Massa?" Special Mention: Kimi for turning that kids day around. Best post from the race thread: Race Rating: 9/10. Great stuff. Uncertain strategy. Difficult, but not impossible to overtake. Battle for the win.
Best Driver: vettel barely. He actually passed bottas which was ballsy. Worst Driver: Stroll by a mile. Best Rookie/New Driver: Ocon Best Team: mercedes who pulled off the virtual sc pit stop. Suprise Team: Sauber yes Worst Team: actually ferrari They dumped vettel in traffic first stop then missed vsc stop window. Tactically they are still reactive not proavtive. Best Overtake: Vettel on Bottas Most Surprising Result: Alonso quali Least Surprising Result: mclaren race pace. Funniest moment: alonso sailing passed a williams. Excuse of the week: none Special Mention: the crying plastic mum and kid... Best post from the race thread: Race Rating: 6/10. Interesting but not a classic by any stretch
Best Driver: A lot of good drives make this a difficult choice; but for its significance I'm going to choose Hamilton. Despite help from Bottas and a cunning strategy from the pit-wall, he had to work very hard for that. He also timed his run on Vettel to perfection. Vettel had been a contender for this until nearing the end when making a hash of dealing with back-markers. Worst Driver: Vandoor, Face Palmer, Stroll on. All poor. Best Rookie/New Driver: Wehrlein was impressive. Ocon did a great job too. Best Team: Force India: a superb result! Mercedes also worth a shout for clever strategy. (Bottas had no hope of winning with an ailing car and keeping him out was an obvious opportunity to delay Vettel – whom I believe would otherwise have won. Bringing him in, thus letting Vettel by sooner, would have been bonkers – and I think anyone advocating it is showing more than a little bias…). Surprise Team: Sauber. Worst Team: Probably Williams. Best Overtake: Vettel on Bottas was clever. None better. Most Surprising Result: Alonso grid position. Finishing positions of both Force India cars. Least Surprising Result: McLaren retirements. Funniest moment: Excuse of the week: Special Mention: An unusually classy bit of PR by Ferrari to entertain Kimi's new mate. People remember moments like this. Well done. Race Rating: 8.13/10
Best Driver: Wehrlein and Hamilton Worst Driver: Stoffel Vandoorne. No where close to Alonso and daft move with Massa. Palmer also for just being dead slow, can't be long in the seat now. Best Rookie: Ocon, quietly getting on with the job in a very impressive way. Best Team: Force India. Probably the most consistent team out there at the moment. Suprise Team: Sauber grabbing some points Worst Team: McLaren. Best Overtake: Vettel on Bottas. Most Surprising Result: Alonso finishing Least Surprising Result: No one on not606 complaining about Hamilton on the radio. Funniest moment: "Why always Massa?" Excuse of the week: "Why always Massa?" Special Mention: Kimi/Ferrari for turning that kids day around. Best post from the race thread: Race Rating: 9/10. Good racing for position at the front for a change, and a winning move actually being on the track and not in the pits.
