If Hospitals are to use paper records only, where would they store them and how do they get them from one hospital to another? Express penny farthing?

If there's a flaw in the system you fix it but you don't go back in time and use methods which were outdated 30 years ago.

They don't share info now, can you not read?

It's a ****ing misconception that the NHS contains.all your information. I've already said it's pretty much ****ing useless other than being a hackers paradise!

As for going back in time, we are still using paper records thicker than a ****ing Bible of a Catholic!

I can read allright but I am aware that not everything I read can be taken as fact.

    Summary Care Records (SCR)

The SCR is an electronic record of important patient information, created from GP medical records. It can be seen and used by authorised staff in other areas of the health and care system involved in the patient's direct care.

Just because a new record is started every time you go to a different hospital or GP it doesn't mean they aren't shared. Like I said in my first post, they certainly have the ability to be shared?

Information is not shared even if they have the ability to do so. Although I don't believe they do with GPs

Did you know that many paper documents within government departments are scanned onto computer systems and the originals destroyed.

Paper records do not retain their quality over 20 years never mind the lifetime of a citizen.

Not sure what that has to do with the current NHS ability to share information. My argument is it is not be used affectively for the purpose most people think it is being used for.

Ask yourself a question, if the purpose of it is being used effectively say as in GP surgery's then why are consultants referring to paper documentation. Why do GPs only know something when consultants write to them about treatments received. Why do you have to have pre medical assessments asking questions that should already be on the system. Why do GPs only hold records of your past medical history. Why are there so many liability claims against the NHS costing absolute millions because previous conditions were overlooked.

It is a legal requirement I believe to archive financial papers for up to 10 years and that is unlikely to change in the near future.
