Not been to Lake Como but was next door at Lake Garda just outside Limone where the views were stunning especially at evening time with the sun setting over the mountains.
Off to visit my parents again in the Isle of Man at the end of the month - will catch a bit of the TT while I'm there. Austria for 5 days in July - F1 Grand Prix for the Saturday and Sunday and then Vienna for the rest with Guns n Roses concert in Vienna on the last night. USA in August - 4 days New York, 4 days staying with a mate in Washington DC then fly to Denver and drive up to Wyoming to catch the total solar eclipse on the 21st. Probably get a day or so in Denver at the end too before flying back. Also booked flights to Nairobi for February to do a safari in Tanzania/Kenya. Will probably try and get to the canary islands somewhere for a week in November/December.
Actually now that you mention it, it really is much over rated and a tremendous let down when you get there.
Take pics fella. Am being serious. I have a supplier near Florence so will try to visit very soon to check him out.
We visited Limone 3 years ago. Lovely. We were staying in Sirmione, the peninsula at the south of the lake. Had a fab time and our girls said if was the best holiday we've had.
Going to Liguria in Italy here for a week in June. Staying in Rapallo and will potter around the Italian Riviera - Portofino, San Remo and the Cinque Terre. Come back and spending 10 days in Cornwall. Provisionally going back to Hawai'i in November. Greatest place on earth and truly paradise.
For fun activities, can I suggest you take him: 1. Crocodile wrestling 2. Swimming with sharks 3. Snake Kissing 4. Spider hunting 5. Camping in the outback without water
I was in Cinque terre end of March (Vernazza), did the five villages by train, absolutely beautiful. Burgau in Portugal last week, and Santorini next one in July. Used to go to Cornwall all the time as well, great place. If you get the chance, visit the Minack theatre. What a feat by a single woman and a breathtaking view looking back to Portcurno. Love me holidays me
Can't wait to explore Vernazza. Looks stunning from the pics. Quite fancy walking between the villages. I like Portugal too - Lisbon and Porto are just stunning. Madeira is fantastic place too. The hills overlooking Funchal are immense. Toss up between Port Isaac, Polperro or St Ives for the most stunning places in Cornwall. Having said that, I can't wait to visit Mevagissey. I'll have to visit the theatre!
Ha. You're a Cornish veteran! Polperro is quaint, lovely village, great pubs. You can't walk the five villages of Cinque terre though, I reckon it stretches 25 miles? There's a train that runs up and down it but a lot of its in tunnels. We stayed in Vernazza, but I think the first one, Riomaggiore is the best.
Mevagissey open air theatre is quite cool, especially if you can catch a performance. Polperro is nice, we often stay further along at Polruan / Fowey. St Ives tops it though for me, more happening and the kids love thd beach and going surfing.
Stayed in Camelford last time. Nice place but not much to do at night. Fowey will be getting a visit as well as Looe.
I am currently at my caravan in Northumberland, will spend about 70 days there this summer and then off to spain in august. Had a BBQ today with 14 of us, then went to boozer. Did mackems lose today?
Years back stopped at Megavissey for summer hols back when kids were little. Was a great little village with a lovely harbour to sit in watching the boats with the kids at night having a drink (me, not the kids; well the kids had soft drinks) whilst my wife made tea. Love the Cornish coastline as has loads to see and amazing views.
