Just interested in getting some fellow Gunner's opinions, do you think we will struggle to make the top four this season now Fabregas has left? Or do you think Wenger will sign quality replacements (although I am of the opinion that nothing can replace a player who has created more goal scoring opportunities than most in Europe this season). Will we continue to confound the critics and improve in spite of Cescs departure?

  2. Cesc will be a hard act to follow which is why as George Graham as reported, said this morning that Arsenal cannot afford any slipups this month. What the Gunners make of this season will really depend on

    1. Who Arsene brings in

    2. How they gel, create chances and convert them

    3. How the team get their act together and play for each other. I cannot overemphasize the mental strength required of the team. A strong leader on the pitch will help a lot, something we have not had for a couple of years

I'm assuming that the defence will hold it's own based on Saturday's performance.

It is imperative that Arsene brings in players whose overall contribution will at least equal the creative element that we had when Cesc and Nasri were here. I believe we have a good number of potential stars in this team. The thing though is that whatever they are capable of, they need to do it now. I also hope the fans give Arsene a chance. He's already given them so much of which to be proud.

With no more signings its gonna be a really tough season - not in top4.
If AW signs 2 defenders and a good midfileder - we should make Top4.

You might actually get 3rd if Wenger spends wisely - AVB has all but specifically targeted finsihing above Arsenal and Liverpool in his post match comments <laugh>

With our current team this year could be hardest to reach the top 4. We have lost 2 of our best players and our experienced left-back and replaced them with..............silence.........2 teenagers who come from the championship with no experience and another from the French league 1, with little experience. Our left back hasn't been replaced either and we have no new centre backs. If we got 4th last season with a better team, what will be our fate now?

If we get quality replacements in then we have a good chance, but Wenger is taking too long and we might lose points early on because of it.

  6. I hope Arsene returns with a quality shopping trolley. Surely he must realise it's a case of now or never. The departure of Cesc and Nasri could be a blessing in disguise but he must seize the opportunity and quickly.

The other thing and my continuing soapbox item is the part Mr Gazidis or whoever else on the board has in the negotiations. Could they as opposed to Arsene be the ones who are keeping our bids low I wonder?

I really don't understand what is happening over there. This is money that we have got from the sale of 2 of our best players. It's not like money requested from the board or something. This should go straight into squad investment but the way they are delaying and buying teenagers again, really makes me think its all about the money.

ah! the penny has dropped. It is about time us Gunners woke up to the fact that the club (who exactly?) isn't chasing dreams of success.
The aim is maximum profit on as close to zero spend as possible. What AW buys is argued to be a financial investment. The club appears intent on running high risk that we can make 3rd or 4th yet again........madness.

I fear we might become another Ajax, grooming/buying young talent only to lose them to other clubs........

    Stop fearing, start cheering!
It's all well and good demanding signings but, it seems, that all we fans can really do is cheer them and be the 12th man. The fans are perhaps the only variable that can lift this team so it's up to us again. Stop putting Ramshere in the creative shadow of Fabregas.

Of course your right and i will always cheer on the team. I agree, Ramsey is the future of our midfielder but he is still learning, it's just a shame he hasn't got Cesc next to him to learn from. Also he is a couple of years away from being ready. I hope im wrong though....

Without defensive signings we'll get 4th.

Bring In Mata, a CB and a leftback and we can challenge.

Yes, but those doubts are for the pundits to talk about. As far as we're concerned he's already better than Cesc. We simply must take this attitude if we are to do well this season.
