It is Swinton Hurdle day at Haydock and in the Grade 3 feature I think Zulu Oscar could go very close at around the 16/1 mark. Formerly with Harry Fry, this son of Oscar achieved a highest rating of 140 over hurdles after giving Affaire D'Honneur 6lbs and a beating at Kempton at the 2015 Christmas fixture. After finishing down the field in the Martin Pipe he won a seller at Newton Abbot and moved to George Baker for what proved to be a disastrous spell. After tailing off in all 3 starts, his rating dropped to 122 and he was moved to Jeremy Scott at the beginning of April. A couple of weeks later he absolutely dotted up at Carlisle from a Tizzard horse who was getting 17lbs and has since won again. Zulu Oscar has been raised to a new mark of 131 and a fast-run 2 miles on good ground is his optimum race.

Evening Gents - haven't been on here in absolutely ages but I'm off to Ascot tomorrow as the Company sponsor the 2.50 race there tomorrow so tickets were flying around and I've grabbed some!

Looks a good days racing, not many short priced ones so hopefully someone can give a few pointers :1980_boogie_down::emoticon-0148-yes:

Has to be old boy Court Minstrel in the Swinton Hurdle today. Ran well enough lto in the County Hurdle only 4.5 lengths of the winner, down a further pound for that run, good ground today, 12/1. Good luck all.

    20:45 Thirsk - Someone Exciting e/w

(One from my tracker - not much luck LTO and not very well ridden IMHO. Maybe the apprentice rider on board today can do a bit better? 14/1 readily available at time of writing, so e/w for my Saturday plunge. Best of luck everyone; very busy today!).

TOULIFAUT in the French 1,000 Guineas looks value at 12/1. She needed her first run of the season and Rouget has won the last 3 renewals.

I might be mad but going to side with Spencer on Taurean Star in the Victoria Cup.Horse needs to be produced late and that's what your guranteed when Spencer is on board. In the Swinton Hcapp Multiculture looks dangerous at bottom weight with Dickie on board.I've backed both 10s Ew.

What a disgrace these off track stall handlers are. There are horses that have been in the stalls for 6 minutes now and they still have 3 to load out out 9.

Every trainer should be fined for these rags...

Glencadam Glory the one to take out of that having lost so much ground at the start. Might be a Leger type though.

I backed Vosnee Romanee on the exchanges at 34.0 in the Swinton. Travelled like the winner the last day and if he's in the same form he can play a hand at the end perhaps. Mine field of a race and hard to gauge what you will get with some at this stage of the year.

I backed Toulifaut in the Marcel Boussac last year, running the day after she had been sold at auction, and she ran abysmally (although I do blame the brain-dead midget on her back partly for her lacklustre showing); so I would be in no hurry to back her today. The fact that Ryan Moore has opted not to travel over suggests that the Ballydoyle contingent are not fancied very much.

When the French made a late decision to split their Guineas card into two days, it seemed nonsensical to have the first day as an evening meeting but they have moved it to the afternoon. Looking at the cards, I can see that lack of planning has produced something very disappointing.

Saturday features the Prix de St George, which used to be on the old one-day card, and the Pouliches (French 1000 Guineas) but the rest of the card consists of a claimer, a conditions race, a maiden and a load of handicaps; not quite rivalling Newmarket.

Sunday’s card features a Group 1 Arabian race, the Prix Saint-Alary, which used to be run on the Monday but has been added here, and the Poulains (French 2000 Guineas) but the support races are two maidens, two handicaps and a conditions race; again not quite Newmarket.
