It would take a Mittal-type owner to get us up there which makes his presence on our board for the past eight years an even bigger mystery. We've far more chance of League One than the Premier League at present...

Five years ago today, the most unbelievable moment of perhaps the most memorable Premier League match of them all...

I still think he was just trying to get one of theirs sent off too. Tevez was conveniently missed by the lino who spotted Barton's elbow.

Joey Barton at the Oxford union
“What people forget about the incident is – and I’m not trying to condone my part in it, I’m just trying to put it into context – Tevez had punched me off the ball, for all intents and purposes he’s come round me and hit me with the side of his hand.

“So me being me, I thought I’ll wait and I’ll even this up; so I’ve elbowed (Tevez) and the referee and the linesman have seen – well the linesman’s seen it, the referee’s never seen it.

“I subsequently get the red card, Tevez gets away with impunity and I’ve got a strong sense of justice; what’s right and what’s wrong; and I’m not going to accept that, and Aguero had been telling the ref that I’d done it.

“And so I thought, where I’m from grasses – we call them grasses, people who tell – so I’m like well ‘he’s grassed on me so I’ll get him sent off, the snitch, he’s getting sent off,’ so he gets a knee.

“I thought if I can even the teams up and get one of their players sent off then that will make my sending off lesser, because he’ll have been sent off and he’ll have apportioned the blame.

Reluctant congratulations and respect to Chelsea, deserved Champions. Although it's the scum I have a huge amount of time for Conte, a proper manager. I can't remember him slagging off refs or the opposition once this season (same for Ranieri last year), and he obviously never takes anything for granted.

Interesting moment in Man City v Leicester game........Mahrez takes a penalty for Leicester, slips as he takes it with the ball hitting his right foot after taking penalty with left foot, goal disallowed for a double hit before another player touches the ball........result is a free kick to City.........

Now cast your minds back a few seasons and our game at HQ against Man City when Hart does a double hit taking a goal kick, ball goes straight to Austin who scores, goal disallowed and goal kick allowed to be retaken......

Seems to me that in 2 circumstances when a player slips and effects a double hit of the ball by accident you get 2 different outcomes........in one the attacker is not allowed a retake, whilst in the other the defender/goalkeeper is allowed a retake......

Brilliant goal........galling that we didn't hold on for a point or better......we're still not given any credit for that game by the media....

I was going to come on here and say exactly the same thing
Always had a major sense of injustice about that...(perhaps it is written in small print..."if a player double hits the ball in free kick/penalty circumstances, and there is a Citeh player around, then the ball must be given back to the Citeh player immediately)

Swans looking a good bet to save themselves from the drop, 2 up at Sunderland. If they win they're 4 points above Hull who play at Palace tomorrow....

Looks like Hull need six points to have a chance but Swansea have West Brom at home who are perfect opponents to roll over while Hull have Spurs even if they keep it alive tomorrow, where a draw is no good.

There's the very real prospect of Hull winning tomorrow and overtaking Palace on the final day which would be utterly hilarious.

Palace v Millwall potentially next season.
