Which half season? Like it or not, we've gained more points under zonal marking. To reiterate, I'm not saying that switching systems halfway through a season is ideal, but we've gained more points as a result.
That's in spite of zonal marking not because of it! I'd say it's because our play from midfield and attack has been far more progressive. If we'd have not adopted zonal marking I think we'd have done even better points wise.
Only when we concede. We've been measurably better since Marco came in. Only those seeking perfection are looking for a stick to beat him with and it would seem 'zonal marking' is it. Again, I'm not even saying that's what we should be doing in a scrap.
Sorry, but where have I criticised Silva? Anywhere in fact? Zonal marking is folly, whoever plays it. Silva has been a breath of fresh air since he arrived and he has worked miracles to get us to the point that safety is still a possibility even though it's a bloody long shot. We've been poor defending set pieces because of the system employed, we've seen massive improvements in all other areas of the pitch. Which given what he's done in the short period with which he's done it is still incredible. A good coach is also one that recognises things aren't quite right and implements changes. Even if that means ditching his preferred approach. The players simply don't look comfortable with it - Chazz highlighted one example v Leicester away. Sunderland at home being another.
Had a related problem Ct. Who was to carry on the City supporting dynasty in my family that has endured since 1904? No kids myself and my only sibling(sister) had 2 daughters with the eldest, together with her 2 daughters, showing no interest. Subsequently my youngest niece married a City fan who converted her to the cause. Their only 3 year old daughter (via years on IVF ) is already well on the way to becoming a future fan.
I prefer man marking but the problem with it is you often get blocked off the man you're marking and they end up getting a free header/shot and zonal marking is meant to remove this problem
That's the defender not doing their job rather than been obstructed from doing their job and is therefore down to players not the system
No, because you are reacting to an attacking player who will always hold the advantage as they have space to work with.
But Marv no. How can you, look at that picture and say Harry wasn't doing his job!??? His job was to cover the mid to front part of the goal on the 6 yard line. If you're Robert hush and Wes Morgan you go where he isn't and demand your corner taker puts it towards the back.
