good answer - so its the £1 shop !! Haggling all week for that latest 'never heard of African sensation who at 15 shows great promise'
I could buy a tube of Colgate toothpaste for £1 in a £1 shop or i could pay £3 for it in Harrods. It's still the same tube of Colgate toothpaste.
err. Harrods sells quality at high prices. The £1 shop sells rubbish, you don't really want at a profit.
Harrods sells overpriced products to tourists. The first time i heard the Harrod's analogy was at the start of the 2001-02 season.Ferguson had just spent £29 million on Juan Sebastian Veron.I think it was Mark Lawrenson who came out with the remark about Man Utd going to Harrods whilst we went to somewhere like ASDA.Veron went on to be a total failure and we won the double that season.
Will Arsene go shopping this week? Well, he says they have been for a while and trying very hard as well. What he comes back with in his trolley is anyone's guess. If one reads the press it's players worth approx £10m. Arsene needs to realise that to get the job done, you need to get the right tools. This time round he really has only one chance to do it. Buying cheap is a big risk. There is a reason why some players are not on the bargain shelf.
Thats the one exception .... If you buy nobodies you get nothing special - if you pay for a top player you SHOULD get what you need. I'd rather AW paid £17m to fix a problem than haggle for weeks and buy a second rate at £13m and next season realise the problem is still there..
one paper was reporting today that the initial payment for Fabregas is going to be 12.7m - exactly the amount being quoted for Jadson. anyone think there's anything in that?
