I think the prospect of the club sorting itself out, as it will have to now, is exciting and something to look forward to. I'd still rather it hadn't come to this though.
It's been coming for years, might even get a season ticket again, I miss the Saturday afternoon/morning pints with the lads
All in all I do not think we need too much of a rebuild when we include our long term missing injury players. The older players apart, we have a reasonably experienced set of players and we need to add to these by replacing the old stagers with some middle aged stagers for a season or two.
We don't need anymore stop gap players. That's entirely the wrong route to go down IMO. The club needs rebuilt from top to bottom and they're already putting steps in place to do so - backing Moyes, getting this new head of scouting/player recruitment etc. It's not a quick fix, it could take us a few seasons down in the Championship, maybe it's what the club needs as a whole.
It's about more than just the football though isn't it? Well it is for me. I've said a couple of times on here this season that I think match going fans will enjoy the experience (unless you sink completely). I expect the atmosphere to improve hugely and the whole match day experience will be more enjoyable. Anyone who's moaned about the PL being too 'sterile' etc. will like it too. I'm in the position of it being the first time in years I can afford a ST and I'm debating whether or not to bother or to just do 4/5 aways as I find the general matchday experience so dull now. Obviously you want your team to be the best they can be, and I've attended some big games that I never thought I would this year in a cup final and a trip to the San Siro. But a big part of me misses league 1 in so many ways...
I'm not advocating stop gap players. The old ones and emergency signings can certainly go and be replaced by people with experience, but younger, to supplement what we already have. If anything the strike force is the one with the most problems. If we lose Defoe I would not fancy Anichebe or Borini as a primary attacker.
I wouldn't back either of the either as our first choice strikers in all honesty. Maybe I misunderstood then, you said "middle age stagers for a year or two". Sounds like stop gapping to me but hey ho.
Quality of football wins every time, for me. I don't want to be buzzing because we are winning more games in the Championship. That's the cowards way out. I want to be buzzing because we are winning games in the Premiership against the best players in the world. I just can't accept anything less, no matter how far we are away from that, at the moment. That's where everybody should be aspiring to be.
It's just the way I am mate, that's all. I couldn't go to the games every week with the lads knowing we are going to be ****e but I'll have a laugh with my mates. I'd soon get sick.
Couldn't commit to a season card this season like, but I hope to get to a few this season and bloody enjoy it. Hope you'll join me for a few. You fancy an away trip with me and Tees to Preston?
Can I not just bring a girl to play with on the way to the games? If not then we could kidnap @Tel for the Bolton and Preston games.
I think they're the two games for me to make a priority. I also think it would be rude not to pop to Manchester and Blackpool after said games. I Think dragging Tel along would be a great idea.
Coming to an away game in the Championship would really open Tel's eyes to what we are all about. Sheffield for me, I got taxed down there about 5 years ago, so just on the off chance that I bump into the prick
Maybe my bad description. The middle agers would be those players who can supplement and guide the younger players we already have.
