Anyone remember Gabriel Zakuani. He's a defender we had on loan twice in the 06/07 season and the 07/08 season when we got promoted. He often tweets things about Stoke and he posted this a few minutes ago: http://twitter.com/#!/Gabs50Zakuani/status/102826994957434882 @Gabs50Zakuani Gabriel Zakuani I've just had a call from Shawcross he's been caught with £74million in his pocket! #EverydayImTackling Torres £50m Drogba £24m #EasyWork
Woodgate was top drawer for you lot today, if you can keep him fit he will be a top class signing. I thought we gave a decent performance with Torres, Alex, Ramires and Bosingwa in particular were on top form but the Brit is always a tough place to go and today was no different and you fully deserved your point...Begovic (spelling?) was top class. Enjoy the rest of the season lads
Cheers SW6. Agree about Woody, thought he was superb. Thought your defence played well. Even though Torres was a lot better, I thought he still looked very lazy. Begovic was quality, it's really exciting having someone of his quality between the sticks. £3.25m very well spent!!
Torres is adapting his game at the mo, we are all used to watching Drogba power through the defence like their skittles but he is pretty unique...FT needs a team around him...Anelka is the same but still managed to win the golden boot 3 years ago....btw I thought the pair of them linked up very well once Malouda went off. Anyway, lots of positives for both teams and a cracking day to boot.
Torres is so used to the style he had at Liverpool with Gerrard playing off him, which I always thought was the best away to utilise Torres with a Gerrard type playing off him. Surprised you took Malouda off to be honest, thought he played well, would've taken Kalou off myself.
Took me by surprise I must admit, but he made a difference so fair play to AVB...kalou is great as an impact player in the last 20, but I always scratch my head when he is in the starting line up!
Liverpool fan in peace - well done today, thought you played well against Chavski and I chuckled at a few of the big hits on Judas (Torres)... Good luck for the rest of the season!
Cheers guys I still think that Drogba would have caused us many more problems than Torres did today? WHY he's ahead of Drogba only the Chelsea fans will know that. I was worried once Drogba came on, we tired last 20mins and I was thankful for a pt today! Heard that Woodgate was supurb v Hadjuk in the away leg and he showed today, he's a class act. I'm sure he will help Shawcross who sometimes is a little rash. i.e. the challenge on Torres which earned him a booking. No malice he was just way late with the tackle. Hope for Chelsea's sake Torres does well and good luck for the season.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14522531.stm This BBC article is a disgrace, **** stirrer whoever wrote this. They made it look like AVB was signalling us out when he didn't even mention us and they also brought up the Ramsey incident. Absolute disgrace!!
great performance yesterday but im worried about how weak our bench was. When Etherington went off we had nothing going forward. After that I think we all know where we need to strengthen.
Agreed ricc. It was also clear Chelsea noticed this and attacked down that side for the majority of the time after Matty went off.
yes mate, Ill be a bit more happy when we get a few more new faces in. We need a winger and centre midfielder IMO.
Ric No offence mate but, that yesterday was the REASON Me,Nick,Smither's and a few more were getting at T.P. OK? NOT because we think he's stupid, not good enough but, it was obvious end of last season we NEED more midfielders. That, is why I wasn't happy pre season Yesterday, fantastic performance and I'm over the moon with a pt.
