It might just be me, but it seems that the media have hardly acknowledged the fact that we're top of the league, have won our first two games of the season and won a club record 8 games in a row! I can't help but think that if we were Leicester or Ipswich etc, the media would be talking about it a lot more than they are.
The Independent have done a largish piece on Saints this morning. Regarding the league table, I personally think as Cardiff is Welsh and they are playing in the English league, they should sit beneath the English club in the english league when points & goal difference are equal.
Come on guys and gals......Cardiff are entitled to their bit of fame too!! If today was the last game of the season that would be different. Alas there is another 40 games left..........Then lets see whether it is alphabetical order!!
Cheers for the link. Nice article, well researched and written - at least there's one piece of journalsim!
To be fair I don't care if we never get any recognition from the media. Its whether the fans are happy that matters, not impressing some fleet street idiot.
This is true of course - it just seems that we never get the recognition we deserve from other places. I mean, I read an article last season (can't remember where) that said we were still struggling financially and would struggle to buy players etc and I thought why don't these people know what's going on a St Marys?? There was a programme on Channel 4 recently that talked about Markus Liebherr as if he was some sort of secret business man! It's just lazy journalism in my opinion, people just don't like us enough it seems!
Driving home from Barnsley I tuned into 5live for the football reports. After listening for ages to in depth reports of the Premiership they then turned to the Championship. At last I thought some mention of the Saints game and being top of the league but what we were treated to then was a round up of all the ex-premiership managers plying their trade in the Championship. The media are fixated with the Prem even when reporting on the Championship because it's all they know about.
Thanks also for the link - nicely written and where the factual content cannot be confirmed; he has qualified his statements. I wish there were more journalists who research and present well written articles...
I'm hoping we're top at the weekend, so we can sing "we are top of the league" to the Millwall fans. I remember spurs singing it leaving WHL one august, after they beat us with a late Teddy Sheringham penalty. They really were delighted with themselves, the more so because they knew it wouldn't last long.
