Correct some figures - £47 mill for winning the league, £10 mill sponsorship, £15-20 mill parachute payments and £30 mill left over from Jan is what he has available apparently.
Yeah, £70million - £100million seems likely going on the Ashley quote. I expect Benitez to sell smart too. We just get to wait and see. Summer seems more likely to be enjoyable though!
I have different figures. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spor...s/revealed-how-much-newcastle-united-12844008 Main difference is you seem to have an extra £15-20M in parachute payments which Ronnie Gill has as part of the £47M. Still gives between £60-90m to spend plus sales.
I'm sure I read a few weeks back that all clubs in the Championship receive the same amount - circa £7m, no matter where they finish. But, the parachute payment is more like £40m, taking it up to £47m for the season.
Exciting times. Rafa has some big connections too so it's going to be an interesting summer. I won't make any predictions but I believe that Rafa's signings will be a surprise to even the pundits and journalists.
To avoid disappointment I have to explore the sums that Ashley has promised every last penny of. "the money generated from promotion". What does that equate to and when will this extra money arrive at the club? Season ticket money will be unchanged. Commerical income is low. Player sales means loss of squad. On the positive side, I gather it has ticked the boxes for Rafa, which is far and away the most important part of any deal.
BBC say up to £100m. Decent amount that. Sigurdson £25m Chambers £12m Cairney £15m Shaw £15m Not fussed where the other £30m would go but I'd be happy with any of that lot.
This is right I think. I think the thing with all this money is when do we get it? Did we get some or all of it in instalments during the season and in which case I should imagine we have spent it just paying wages and overheads, or is it backloaded to all come in at the end of the season? If it's the latter then happy days, but it's probably not the case.
I am quoting figures from journos so I think those posted above are more accurate. That being said, with the money available, we should be able to attract some good players as a Base and push on from there.
As always actions speak louder than words. Particularly where Ashley is concerned. Relegation battle predicted.
Yeah, I think you're double-counting the parachute payment. I'm guessing that is paid in instalments throughout the season. Perhaps you are right with the £15-20m figure and that is what hasn't been paid of the parachute money? The league money is only £7.1m apparently, not £47m. If all those other numbers are correct, then you are looking at potentially £65m-ish although I'm not convinced there is £30m left over from last summer. We are certainly getting £15m as far as I can see because Thauvin is meant to be a done deal for £9m and we are lead to believe that the Sissoko rip off deal was to be paid at £6m/season. So maybe we need to scale this back to £50m available. But then there are player sales and I think if we offload Mitrovic, Gayle or Shelvey we could be looking at £30m brought in, maybe more. So maybe £80m plus available. More in January perhaps when some of the EPL money has hit the bank? Lots of maybes and perhapses in there but it's very difficult to know when money is coming into the club's bank account and the money Rafa has is going to be about the club's cash flow at the end of the day. The thing that stood out for me from the Ashley statement is he is effectively saying "I'm not putting any more of my my money in".
