If we can keep him, if we stay up then its not going to be easy. He will, I assume, get lots of offers, and if you put yourself in his shoes the time to move on is when you are on top, however, if he stays here there is a chance that next season will go awry and his stock will plummet. You would not blame him to cash in on his standing. if he does it right then he could indeed be the next Mourhino. Hope, hope, hope that I am wrong and that we stay up and he stays, we then could have a glorious next season! "And happy times would be here again".

We've got a very slim chance of him being our manager next season.
He'll get a much better offer than what our owners will offer him.

Nothing to do with how much money we offer him.

Yes it is that's all that matters in football now.
I bet there's very few players/Gaffers that would take medals over cash.

I agree, but why do you think he might leave?

Silva strikes me as someone with a single-minded plan for his career, but that doesn't necessarily mean he'll ditch us at the first opportunity.
He spent the time to learn English because he knew the Premier League was his target. Then apparently he told his agent to get him the City job which you could say was an odd decision for an ambitious young manager.

Why did he want to take on such a potentially disasterous appointment? Was it because he knew it was a gamble worth taking to establish himself and his coaches in a top league?

So if you credit him with that level of fore-sight it's not unimaginable that he might also want to show the football world that he isn't just a quick fix manager. He may think it's worthwhile in his first PL job to demonstrate that he is capable of establishing a club and not just rescuing it.

    Fingers crossed.

Probably more wishful thinking than anything else, but I do think Silva is unpredictable.

It's a possibility. Quite often failure means dropping further than you were before. If we guarantee him time and resources he might think it worthwhile to stay and build and prove his worth, rather than jump, suffer a bad run of form, be sacked after 6 months and forgotten about.

Besides I can't see many clubs taking a £10m punt on a manager.

Just looking back a few weeks ago... Silva had this to say about next season..

"Of course, we're in a position in the table where it is not clear (where we'll be next season) and the main goal in our mind is to fight to keep this club in the Premier League. Of course, you need to prepare the future as well with the board and the chairman for all these situations. I have targets in my mind. I talk with our chairman, but staying up is our goal."

"That is our reality," said Silva, who has also taken on the lead role of organising City's pre-season schedule.

"Of course it's better when you prepare the future with more time and it's more comfortable but that's our life. That's the position we're in but it's impossible that the club stops. The future needs to be prepared and we will do what we can."

You would think those talks with the chairman, naming targets etc, would be for both staying up and being relegated.

I wonder if Silva will look to the likes of Benitez and what he's done for Newcastle. Both similar stories really, they both joined halfway through a season with the intention of keeping them up, failed to do so (its looking likely..) but stayed on to regain premier league status.

From Ehab's point of view, he would surely want to know if Silva is staying or going so he can plan for next season.

It would be a huge risk for Silva to stay on as he's built a reputation already and at this point would likely get a better job in the prem when one comes along. Having said that I seem to remember he was willing to manage Wolves in the Championship and just maybe he likes it here so you never know......or do you?

Thats if we are relegated, I still have some hope.

The best chance the Allams have of selling tickets is if he stays

If Silva was to stay next season in the Championship, I genuinely think we'd come straight back.

That division is a slog/dog fight (or any other appropriate cliche) but lacks quality. If you're well organised, you do well, as Bruce, Karanka, Dyche, Hughton have all recently proved. Silva would have us well organised and we would do well. However, he is going to get offers from elsewhere, no doubt from higher ranked clubs, so it's highly unlikely he'll stay. The board should offer him a contract now regardless as a show of confidence. Maybe they have?

The most frustrating thing for me is how **** the PL has been this year. WBA, Watford, Burnley, Swansea, Bournemouth, Palace, Stoke - not much separating them and us, they've just had the set-up, 'organisation' and therefore the ability to take points consistently to get to safety.

This was the season we could have kicked on, but we know what happened.

For the record, if Bruce had been backed in the first place, I think we'd be safe on 40 pts.

If we go down with Marco in charge it'll be the only blemish on his CV (not calling it a black mark as he's done an unbelievable job). He's a perfectionist and it seems like something like that would really wind him up, hopefully he'll stay with us and try to rectify it.

The Championship looks like it'll be quite weak next year, no idea who will be in charge of Boro yet and Sunderland appear to be a mess. It'll be very interesting.

I don't as Bruce has no idea who to buy when he's given money.

Ehab didn't trust the manager who's got us up twice. He thought he wasn't good enough, so he engineered SB's departure.
And we got SB-lite, a 13 man squad, a carcrash of a preseason and bottom 3 for most of the season.
All because Ehab thought SB would struggle this season and tho.

I can see Silva at somewhere like Southampton next season.
