From Sky Sports: Speaking after the meeting, Mike Ashley said: "I've confirmed to Rafa and Lee that they can have every last penny that the club generates through promotion, player sales and other means in order to build for next season." Manager Rafa Benitez added: "I'm pleased with how the meeting went and the positive approach we are all taking together to build on what we have started this season. "There will be challenges ahead of course, the summer will not be easy, but the hard work has been going on for some time and we can now continue positively with the development of the squad ahead of the start of the new season. I wish fans an enjoyable summer!"
Every penny from promotion and player sales.... What's the difference between a parachute payment and one season's TV money?
We need General Lee Speaking to explain all of this, he's the expert. The signs are (cautiously) promising, though.
He'll not get us up He'll leave the mags He's signing for West Ham The Inter job just came up Hehe ... so they said... Ha... ****ing......ha.... In Rafa I ****ing trust!!!!!!
Just heard through the grapevine - It's £100 million PLUS anything generated from player sales. Ashley is giving Rafa carte blanche to turn us into a top 6 club. Ashley is going for it. It's his gamble. **** me.
It could potentially be more. You get something like £250 million for promotion. He has promised 'every available penny' and I have been told it is AT LEAST £100 million.
I'm going toss a fiver into the hat, as well. That's at least £100,000,005 then. Anyone else wanna chuck some more money at it?
Excellent news. Giving Rafa full control was the only sensible move. Glad it's the one that has been taken.
What are the NUFC operating profits forecast to be, taking into account next seasons vastly increased TV moolah?
Bloody hell. I might go out and buy a shirt. ....which I guess is half the idea of course. An energised Geordie fanbase is worth a quid or two. While I'm dying to know exactly what we've got to spend, I hope they keep it more or less quiet. We'll get better deals for players if we're not seen to be too flush with cash.
