Can he turn it around and get the fans back on board and behind him. The news last week was dissapointing for most, but it looks clear that he's going nowhere regardless of what the fans think, do or say. The vitriol on social media has never come to fruition in the stands, so Moyes has never felt the full wrath of the fans like he deserved, and like Bruce was subjected to. Any chance of the fans forcing him out has gone now. I've done my best to accept that he's staying and have drawn a line under it now. This season is done. For me he has the transfer window and the first 5-10 games to prove that he's the man for SAFC. What are peoples' thoughts about Mr Moyes today?
He really is an inspiration to people up and down this country that you don't have to be good at something to make money from it.
He's not an easy man to be enthused about but we've shown just enough under him to make me think we'll be alright next season barring an injury list to match the one we've just had. If he can build a team that he has a bit of confidence in then we might see us playing a more attacking style. I don't know, I'm waffling really, the time to judge will be when the transfer window shuts and we know what he's working with. He's got a lot of work on his hands to deal with all the upcoming transfers.
I think that most fans have accepted the inevitable with Moyes staying, we haven't really had much choice. As for next season he definitely has to get the team hitting the ground running in the first ten games to give him some credibility. However, I'm not expecting an instant return to the Premiership and would tolerate Moyes staying if we see positive signs that the club as a whole was returning to basics and we were being put onto firm foundations for the future. Decent attractive attacking football would be an obvious bonus, we'll have to wait and see.
Lets stick with him and see what happens. He is not a manager who demands loads of £££, and we are flat broke. He has bought players such as McNair, Love,, N'Dong, and has the likes of Gooch and Watmore at the club, so there is a basis of a good young team there. I do however think that the club needs a massive shot in the arm though. Perhaps replacing Bracewell with another coach would be beneficial
I'm almost willing to give him a chance (just) despite being Moyes Out for a long time. He goes into next season with a clean slate, and has absolutely no excuses IMO as he'll know exactly what he's got to deal with from day one of next season. They will get my full support next season as always.
It's worth remembering that he was successful building a solid and reasonably attacking side at Everton on a small budget, it's debatable how much he's been damaged as a manager since then, we know he's still bitter about United because he's always on about it, but he is still the same man and it could be repeated. Time out of the spotlight and with a squad of his choice, even of average quality, could see a big difference in results.
We've no say in the matter really but for what its worth he has been here for nearly a full year now which is longer than most of his predecessors and should know what the club is about by now. He knows he isn't going to have millions to buy players to fill the positions that are going to be made vacant from the playing staff that will be leaving. He cant moan about the lack of investments and neither can we as its been rammed down our throats often enough about how much of a financial mess we are in. For me its all about the "has he still got it" mentality of now building a team on the cheap to keep us in the championship this year. Yes there are a few of good young players on our books but are they ready, physically and mentally for one of the toughest leagues there is, with a **** load of games to play as well. The first thing is he has to show a lot more positivity this coming campaign or we are already accepting another season of defeat. One thing for certain is that we will have to hit the ground running to get a winning mentality back again, a start like Newcastle had with 2 straight defeats (i think) could lead to another season of doom and gloom. Lift your head up Mr Moyes, accept the challenge and fukcing go for it.
I think he's shown that he's a poor manager with limited ideas, blinkered views, and that he's overly cautious. I firmly believe that the injury list, the lack of funds, and the general poor running of the club are ready-made excuses for his failure. I can't think of any other manager who has been completely destroyed by his past failures more than Moyes, at the same time I can't think of any manager living on his past record (obviously with Everton) than Moyes. I fear that Moyes will never get back to his Goodison days but we simply have to back him. He is here for the immediate future, we NEED him to recapture something that made him a wanted manager a few years ago. I hope for the best but fear the worst.....
We've got an 18 man squad before player sales and need to get it up to 40. We're not going to be flush enough to buy high quality championship players simply because we need so many. We are starting slowly under any manager, we require a slow build. Mashing a squad together in two months then giving a manger 5 to 10 games is completely unreasonable on any level to any manager Moyes included. Get real.
We're left with a good nucleus (even Moyes said so) and there's a ton of good 'frees' out there to replace the outgoings. We'll still have one of the biggest budgets in that league next year. No excuses not to be pushing for promotion. If we are languishing in the bottom 6 after 10 games do we stick with him and risk him taking us to the 3rd tier. He has to come out of the blocks like Usain Bolt or he's a dead man walking.
