****s!.. Something should be done. Seriously, the club should trace the ticket holders and ban them. Or take their season tickets away.
The only reason I would take money would be to make it up to my daughter if we couldn't go. I know life is way more important than football but it has been so important to me at points. Being a Spur helped me belong to something when my stupid mother married her child beating husband and gave up on me. It helped me find an escape throughout my struggle to cope with my sons death and it has given me some great laughs and memories of days out with my daughters and Mrs RCL. When the girls were little they used to draw me spurs pictures. My uni kid often sends me around 70 or 80 texts during match days. I went to the 5-1 semi final win over the Goons and a guy standing next to me said he was 80 yrs old and was beginning to think he'd never see us beat Arsenal again. He said he wished his wife could have been there, gave me ( a total stranger) a hug and wandered off wishing me well. At the last NLD a young guy in front of me was there on his own and jumped all over me when we scored, then realised he didn't know me...looked at me burst out laughing and carried on celebrating with me. Things like this have always happened and when I was a kid gave me something to look forward to and today allow me to scream and shout and jump around like a 2 year old. I have a great life and Spurs are a nice sized part of it...and that goes for many, many fellow spurs so it genuinely pisses me to see people exploiting that. Rant over....and breathe. ....
Cracking thread lads, really enjoyed reading that Hope you get a win on the weekend, and am sure you will. Will be great if you can sign off like we did from The Dell. You got any friendlies lined up or anything or is this it? Get yourselves on the pitch
Bloody hell so this really is it. Cracking game to end with though. As some of you probably know our last league game at The Dell was against your neighbours, with Le Tiss scoring a screamer to win the game 3-2 in the dying minutes. Unbelievable ending really, I'm sure you've seen it. We then had a post season friendly against Brighton for the last ever game, as they were the first opponents there. Seats, pitch, even ad hoardings were taken I believe
The whole thing seems kind of unreal..... Wembley for a season is going to be hard. I attended 3 of the 4 European ties and even when full it's a soulless place. We are all going to have to try really hard to make next season work. Our new stadium has been designed to feel much more like home and has the advantage of being in the right location. Plus there's the cheese room and micro-brewery and NFL. Possibly more than any stadium change this one has the potential to transform not only our club but to point the way to how people will be watching sport in this century. This will be the first stadium of the Billionaire era. I hope it feels like home.
I agree and think you might struggle next year, not so much the size of the pitch for me more the lack of atmosphere and the fact teams will raise their game coming there. In a way it's sort of happened at a bad time with how you've done last couple of seasons. Am looking forward to seeing your new ground though, particularly how the atmosphere is and your one tiered stand behind the goal.
The 17,500 one tiered stand should set us apart from your average bowl. If you are in that stand you are there to sing your heart out for the shirt. It's got the potential to be a truly world class football stadium suited to us and capable of comparison with the best anywhere. We're going to be 5 metres nearer the pitch than at The Emirates and the seats are stacked more steeply giving a far more enclosed feel which echoes the stands of the great old stadiums. That makes it a football stadium rather than a Sports Arena which so many others resemble. Massive thought has gone into making sure that we get the accoustics right. At Wembley the noise rolls around the bowl and distorts making lengthy songs impossible because everyone gets out of time. We're promised that won't happen due to shaping of the roof and the materials used. WHL is a noisy stadium and we have to retain that identity. Coming to this later than many and with a design specifically for football and more specifically for Tottenham Hotspur should see us right. I hope.
please log in to view this image ...and then they go and spoil it all by doing something stupid like Tim Sherwood
Sherwood? At least - unlike other memorial pics - it doesn't have Judas. Missing a few though. Should have more than Blanchflower and Mackay from the double team, Martin Peters should be there, Gilzean, Roberts as well
Having Modric instead of Gilly or Cyril or Cliff Jones is a bit off. I realise that it's got to have a balance of eras and is likely to include players who have won stuff like the CL which makes it slightly surprising that there's no Jurgen Klinsman.
I think that it would've been nice to have a shot with none of the current players, honestly. They're the present and the future. Pay tribute to the past. I suspect that there'll be various fan created ones doing the rounds soon, though.
It's "live" on Facebook, but like a lot of our social media stuff, it doesn't seem to be working reliably. Nice idea, though.
If Robbo is going to be playing, I'll pay good money for the opposition include : Charlie Adam, Maclean, Costa etc. If the above is arranged, and a spiritualist can somehow contact the other side so that the body of Robbo is possessed by the spirit of Dave Mackay, I'll pay even more.
