Only a matter of time Gambol. There will be massive space stations (housing specialists in essential occupations, animals etc) that will travel through space with scientists searching for a new planet to settle on. Generations will be born and die during this exploration but at some point they will find a planet that is habitable. At the rate progress is accelerating in terms of knowledge and technology, the next 100 years will be interesting to say the least. Unfortunately I won't be around to witness these exciting times. The downside of course is that those not involved in the space travel (or their offspring) will be left to experience whatever awaits. You may think I'm mad but it will happen.

Way ahead of it's time. Arks are out in deep space with the last of Earth's flora and fauna in attempt to find a new hospitable planet. The order comes in to abandon the mission and destroy the arks. Bruce Dern goes nutty and hijacks one of the arks and runs off with it.
