If there are no other overseas pre-season games between then and the
start of the 2017-18 PL season, I can live with it a bit more.

    The players will be knackered.
It will be mid-October before performances/results are where they should be,
    But think of the money....

Thank you Gary Neville. At long long last, a pundit giving us some credit.

Basically he said, we are the best Spurs team he has seen in his lifetime, we should be praised for pushing Chelsea for so long rather than bottling it and that Pochettino inherited a shambles and a toxic squad and should be applauded for sorting it out and getting us to where we are now.

Son had better not think of pulling any of that ****. He's our passport to Far Eastern domination and wealth beyond even my imagination.

Sell enough shirts and we can keep a player or two. Otherwise it's sell, sell, sell and the whole squad will be gone.......except Sissoko.

Don't worry, Cy Goddard is our backup plan - although, as he's half-Japanese, does that mean he'll only sell half as many shirts?

Surprising as he hardly knows me.

On more important matters the BBC are commemorating Bernard Joy, the last amateur player to represent England in 1936.

I am presuming that excludes managers? We've 'ad some right amateurs in that role and continue to do so up to the present day.

Gary Neville clearly prefers us to Utd at the moment. I don't think he's all that fond of Mourinho.

A decent summary of how we play, in my opinion:

Seems more accurate than a lot of the crap that I've seen trotted out by the pundits.

  17. Excellent video! Thanks for posting.
Nothing of surprise to most of us, but as you say provides a far more clear technical analysis than the so-called media 'experts'!!

I think he feels Mourinho is too pragmatic.
Like most Utd fans, he'd like to see Utd playing at a higher tempo, with the pace of Martial and Rashford being unleashed even if that meant having more open games and conceding greater possession to the opposition.
SAF was a risk taker. More often than not it paid off; sometimes he was made to look foolish or naive. But how many times did Utd have five forwards and only two defenders on the pitch chasing games? And how many times did it result in crucial late goals?
Mourinho will never take these risks, hence the frustrating number of home draws 0-0 or 1-1 against teams Utd used to expect to score 3 or 4 against.
Pochettino does have Spurs playing with more abandon when circumstances dictate. The commitment to moving the ball quickly, committing players forward and risking defeat to pursue victory have been evident in a number of games this season - and it's paid off like it used to do for Utd.

Given the resources available to United, you should be able to unlock the most tightly locked door. You're right, we've got better at it this season and it's about gambling and going for it.

Hopefully, we'll have a few better options off the bench next season. With injuries we've been too light on occasions.

Mourinho plays not to lose first, rather than aiming to win. It's something that I've said about Tony Pulis in the past.
He's normally good enough to turn that mentality into a winning one, which is the difference.

I think that our players have had it drilled into them that we work harder and have better fitness than most sides.
We don't concede that many and we're normally in touch late on, at least, so we almost expect to get late goals.
That translates into us actually getting those goals, as the team keeps going and the opposition come to expect it, too.
Some sides would've been happy to nick a late draw in Swansea. Our lot thought that it was just the start.

I wonder if Mourinho's latest outbursts at some of his players have been counter-productive in that?
They must fear making a mistake and being slagged off, so are they less willing to take risks?
You could end up being the hero, but you could also end up being the scapegoat.
