Cameron and Osborne who led Remain both emphasised consistently that Leave meant out of the single market membership. Gove for Leave agreed we would lose membership. References I have found to Johnson leading up to the referendum have him stating that we would still have access to the single market. I have not found him claiming we would retain membership.

Yes they did, but that was project fear wasn't it? Not to be taken seriously, like the slogan on the bus.

I don't know if you saw David Davis on Question Time. I thought he was excellent. It's clear he's ready for hard nosed negotiations but wants to seek out areas where both the UK and the EU gain. The problem is the president of the EU commission, Junckers, wants the UK to lose whatever. It is his aim that the UK's future is worse than it would have been had it not left the EU. What the UK does once we are fully out of the EU has nothing to do with him, but the negotiations before that could be made impossible by his determinedly vindictive and negative attitude. The question will come to a head later in the year, when France and Germany must decide whether they support his destructive attitude.

It could hardly be project fear when both Remain and Leave were stating it! Project fear was Osborne's punishment budget, national bankruptcy and a third world war

I agree, but that won't change. The only time I can remember Labour getting a decent press was when Blair cozied up to the elite media. Presumably they felt supporting Blair would get them what they wanted for themselves at that time. I wonder what Mrs May and the Conservatives will give them? I wonder why they want it? I wonder what that will mean to all the slugs voting for salt?

Sitting around saying "It isn't fair", like my Labour friends do, changes nothing.

Plenty of young people would be more than willing to come from the commonwealth to help out
They also have the added bonus of usually wanting to return home
    Win win

Do you mean from Nigeria, Bangladesh and Pakistan or from Australia and NZ?

If you only mean the last two, I would agree. The standard of living in the former however is such that they don't tend to go home, and in fact tend to bring other members of their family over.

A mural of a workman removing a star from the EU flag has been confirmed as the work of graffiti artist Banksy.

The piece appeared on a building on the A20 in Kent overnight.

Pictures of the mural, near Dover's ferry terminal, have been posted on Banksy's Instagram account, and a representative confirmed it was his.

The mysterious artist is known for his political pieces. His latest comes as the UK heads towards a general election and Britain prepares to leave the EU

Crushing victory for Macron, Vive la France, they are not quite as divided as us! Strengthens EU, but his focus will be forming a government which can get stuff through the legislature, bit a of Trumpish parallel.

Tories set to include 'tens of thousands' net immigration pledge in their manifesto, which has worked so well for them since 2010, with the last three and a half years at highest ever levels! Well, May got away with a promotion by failing to deliver on it so far, so why not? They have all the tools needed to do it this time, but the main factor will be UK being less attractive place to come to.

    35/65 v 48/52

I wonder what the equivalent would be for UK if it was Tim Farron v Nigel Farage (i.e. both main party's excluded from the run off <yikes>)

An interesting thought. Though from what I've seen, Farage is mild compared to Marine. There are big problems in France and I don't think Macron's the answer

Marine Le Pen is Far Right, with a recent respray. She and her deputies cannot walk the streets without protection.
