Yes I've raged out about this on the PL thread. Another one of my favourite Garth quotes was about the Man Utd youngster CB who got in his team of the week. "We've already seen Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard come through at United. Where are they getting these kids from? It's great to see a Premier League club bringing through home-grown talent. I was beginning to think we'd forgotten how." ERRRR HELLO. Just shows how invisible and irrelevant we are to the majority of pundits. I don't know if it's just because it's Monday morning. But Garth Crooks has managed to piss me right off this morning. He's an utter bellend.
We are irrelevant to majority of fans and pundits, it is part and parcel of being a supporter of a smaller club. Sure the experts should know more as, well, it is their job to. But it surely can't be surprising to anyone who doesn't support a "big" club that we get overlooked by the pundits?
I'm not surprised, it's just the pure ignorance of an 'expert' is infuriating. He's hit a nerve with me this morning.
As much as it pains me to say, Everton is another good example of young talent coming through. They've done better this season and should arguably be recognised too. But no, BBC big club bias strikes again.
Apparently we were one of a number of clubs scouting this player at the weekend. Bit to old for our model especially at quoted prices of £30 million. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Modeste_(footballer,_born_1988)
I wonder how that works. Almost like they have someone with inside knowledge of our scouting system. Ginger twat. I watched the doco 'becoming zlatan' last night Koeman was interviewed for it and you could see the top of Saints badge on his logo. Made me a bit grumpy to be honest. A bit proud at the same time that the club has been so successful recently.
If my Italian is up to scratch, the headline is Everton have eyes on Sandro. So looks a little way from a completed deal.
Martin Caceres has un-followed Southampton on social media and deleted any pictures on his Instagram that related to it. Safe to say we won't see him play in a Saints shirt!
Would like to know the story behind his time with us, suspect more to it than is presently known. Thankfully the development of Jack Stephens has meant we haven't needed additional support
He was an emergency buy in case Maya and Jack didn't work out or either were injured. He presumably wasn't considered good enough to replace either...though also possible that Puel thought it was better in the long term to give our players a chance to gel and prove themselves. In either case, he won't get a contract. He's had a temporary berth on very good money, but he would probably have liked to be seen playing in the EPL....but that isn't really our problem.
Presumably crunch time had arrived and he has now been told that he isn't getting a contract...won't come as any surprise to him I would think. Obviously made no impact on Claude....or perhaps just a case that Maya and Jack made a bigger impact. A case of thanks and goodbye.
