Did we have hundreds or thousands for the anti bates protests today. Hope it was thousands not that it'll make a hat of difference of course.

Hard to tell numbers; over 1,000 I'd say. Some good videos up on YouTube and Twitter, as well as some pictures on the Facebook account if you click on 'Bates Out' on my signature below. I'll let you decide for yourself. <ok>

Ive checked youtube and pretty impressive for a first day. Hopefully numbers will grow over coming weeks leading to media attention. If hes not gotten rid of shortly we could be in as bad a position playing wise as when he joined. Problem now is i cant see anyone stumping up the kind of money he would want to leave

It got reasonable coverage on the football league show last night. They had a bit of a discussion about unrest at Elland Road over 'the last few days'. The discussion mainly covered the fact that Leeds are a big club regardless of what division, and that certain expectations come with that. Steve Claridge even went on to say that the manager hasn't had funds made available to meet those expectations, quoted the amount of money we made over the last two seasons and also mentioned that we got a fair amount for selling Delph but it hasn't made it's way back to the manager.

Was quite surprised that they seemed largely on the side of the fans and stated that money needs to be invested in players.

Just thought Id mention in case anyone didn't see it / are interested

Claridge is a smart guy and very considered in his comments ...and he knows the game inside out.

We do deserve more..but also it was on 3 seasons ago we were in L1.

Im sure we will see the prem again..when maybe when Bates sells and he will.

The protests against Bates will not change a thing.....
We need to focus our energy on the team and giving 100% to them on the pitch...

Bates will go when he is good and ready....in his own time.

Totally disagree Spanish White the protest has sent out a clear message to Bully Batesthat we will not be taken for MUGS any longer and saying one thing and doing something are things of the past the more we protest the more he will have to do a rethink and maybe he will get the message we have kept our side of the bargain by paying over the odds for second rate football its up to you BATES to provide the funds to give us a team we deserve

what are you complaining about? bates rescued you and funded the players in order to get you into the championship. i think the biggest problem is you guys overachieved last season and reached the dizzy heights of 7th place, this has got to your heads and you seem to think you are a top 10 team now.

instead you just need to enjoy championship football who knows you might be back in the third tier soon

well lets see if it does..... if he releases more cash for signings great.... but if you want him out...as i say he will not go until he is ready...
but your point of view is fair..and protesting is ok as long as we don start to see..boycots and no spending in the club shop etc...that will only lead to one thing...selling the family silver....

wasn't long since we were in league one, no. Expecting to go straight back up first season back in the championship is a bit much, but I see no reason why we shouldn't expect to be one of the favourites to win the league this time around. It didn't even require that much investment, 4 mill transfer fees tops. Easily affordable if you don't waste money building something that noone cares about at a ground you don't own. Instead we went for all the bargains, players who are (lets face it) reasonably good. They aren't exactly terrible, but they are the adequate rather than spectacular players. I reckon for about 2-3 mill with an increased wage structure we could have had a team better than Leicesters. We were already halfway there with that frighteningly potent attack that (provided Becchio stabilises and we replace that carthorse paynter) will keep getting better.

I hope there'll be another protest on tuesday, I'm fully expecting a response from Bates along the lines of "we don't want fans like that who don't get behind the club" or some rubbish.

A thousand people is a good start, but we need the majority to make a stand to stand a chance

the problem with protesting is he knows as well as we all do that we're not going to stop attending games. We enjoy supporting the club too much. The problem there is while we want to continue supporting the club, something we enjoy doing, we have to fund that doddering old git.

We can stop buying programmes and investing in the club outside of match tickets though.

I know what we can do. We can protest, stop attending game, stop buying anything that has to do with the club. That is the only way to get Bates out.
The problem is that then the club want have any funds go belly up and stop to exist. I guess that would make you very happy because you then don’t have anything to moan about.
You can then go on and live your life happy ever after.
And for the record, I’m not a Bates fan. I just don’t waste energy on thing’s I can’t do anything about. And for those who says Grayson should go and tell Bates of for not giving him any founds to buy quality players. I guess that you go to your boss and tell him to stuff it when you are unhappy with things?

The club wouldn't stop existing. If Bates tried to liquidate it, the Football League would stop him with their exceptional circumstances ruling and his only option would be to step aside and listen to takeover offers. That's why a boycott would be the most effective strategy, though it would never work trying to get 25,000 Leeds fans to stop going to watch their team. That's why I think a boycott of all things LUFC other than match tickets is the best way forward on this.

I really can't see protests working, they certainly won't force him out. I think it will just backfire on the fans. Take matchday programmes for example. Let's say everyone stopped buying them,& there's approximately 10,000 sales per home game @£4 each x 23 games = £920,000 per season excluding cup games. What's Bates going to do? Sell a player or two to recoup his losses that's what. And that's just through fans not buying programmes. Add to that the loss of revenue through people not buying other mechandise e.g.shirts etc & you're talking more player sales to make up the shortfall.
I'm afraid its a battle you just can't win, best let time take its course & wait until he decides to sell up or dies, whichever is the soonest.

I know you want captain Birdseye out, can I ask who do you want to replace him? Bates has invested in your club, you are one of the most profitable in the championship, he will want his pound of flesh.
