In the main the UK voter is only interested in Brexit. The raised level of insults and aggravation from the EU side is fuelling support for the PM, tell them to carry on!!
If true, what a sad response. Don't care about the children, don't care about the elderly, don't care about the disabled, don't care about the homeless, shall I carry on. This is not what a country at it's best should be like.
I'm sure 'normal service will resume' in politics. The PM described this election to be specifically about Brexit, She has certainly convinced most of the electorate about that. Of course all the other issues are relevant and will be addressed but Brexit is huge and will undoubtedly take most of the government's time and energy.

Even the left wing press are turning on the hapless Jezza, hopefully he stays until the GE at least. They must elect either McDonnell, Abbott or Thornberry next, to keep the party membership, and the Conservatives, happy.

I do know it, but not as well as I thought I did. Thinking back, it wasn't one of the songs in the vote to replace the English one - it hadn't been written at that point. It was later proposed to replace Advance Australia Fair as it was so popular - was sung at sporting events and at Citizenship ceremonies.
Now if this were being reported by Ruth Davidson on the BBC, I'm sure she would be describing it as a 'Le Pen surge bringing surprise victory" - without a whimper from the Beeb...
Read some of the comments in the French press BB and you will find that the supporters of Le Pen are sure that the press and TV are far too left wing. Not sure that I can see it however. What does it mean for the UK though? It will make it far more difficult to get what May wants. Today Hunt said that unless there was a good agreement between the UK and the EU, the NHS would be like a canoe without a paddle. Macron does not like the agreement that allows the English border to be in France, and wants to change that. In his speech just now he has been saying that France should be be an international country, and not one that retreats into it's self as Le Pen wanted. En Marche didn't exist 12 months ago whereas the FN has had years to organized. Change will come to France after this, it will not be easy, but the old guard have been pushed aside for now.
Probably the totally wrong thread for this, but... I have to thank you ofh for dredging up so many memories for me with this post. I'd guess most people may know of Bruce Woodley, he of Seekers fame, but his co-writer Dobe Newton may not be so well-known. He was/is the crazy front man for an Aussie band called The Bushwhackers - an immensely popular Australian Folk and Country band since the early 70's. When my wife and I married, we chose to have a traditional 'bush' wedding, and I booked what I thought to be a cover band for the occasion. When they turned up, we were gobsmacked to find that they were the 'real thing'. Again, apologies for hijacking the thread, but just had to share this. He's the madman playing the lagerphone..
I The necessary changes France needs are very unlikely to happen with a President without adaquate support in Parliament. He will need to keep both extremes on board leading to years of inertia. This sounds like a false dawn similar to Blair's reign.
I would suggest that you try to enjoy yourself SH rather than continue with your hopeless projections. If you had been able to read the French press today you would have seen that there is not likely to be a problem over him getting the support he needs in Parliament. What we have is a new face, not someone who has been seen to have failed in her previous job, and is now coming back for a second bite at the cherry. Go and tell your fellows about the horses, and get over your disappointment.
Ah - Queen Judith. I've seen them live so many times that I feel I know her personally. I remember both my wife and I burst into tears when watching this live announcement about their last appearance. Thankfully they changed their minds & I saw them a few years later.
I think you are getting a bit carried away with the hype. The sensible commentators realise the enormous task this extremely inexperienced politician has in gaining support from other parties. He is already unpopular with both the left and right, it is very doubtful anything will change. They should have chosen the fiddling Fillon.
