The guys been holding the team back for the entire post SAF era IMO. Fergie knew when he was retiring that Rooneys best years where behind him and had already started phasing him out of the side, and would have sold him had he stayed any longer.
If you complain enough about the number of games (not sure what he was expecting) fans will start to think a team full of internationals is akin to a reserve team.

You'll look an arse if we lose to Ajax now (or, god forbid, Celta Vigo) It's a shame Rooney timed his second transfer request right right at the changeover to Moyes. That was the perfect time to sell him, but no way anyone would have made as bold a call as that on day 1.
