Nottingham Forest manager Mark Warburton: "We can never allow ourselves to be in this position again. Ever. I said to the boys we must make a vow to make sure this never happens again. "The last few weeks have hurt but we have to remember this feeling and make sure we never experience it again. It can't be allowed to happen. "A relegation dogfight is not what we are about and I am confident it won't happen next season, and I say that because I have seen the quality within the squad. "I've seen enough in the seven or eight weeks I've been here to know that with a good pre-season behind us we can put a marker down next season." Sound familiar?!!
Read the first line, and this immediately came to mind..... Two quotes define Mark Hughes's disastrous tenure at Queens Park Rangers. The first is from the man himself following last season's knuckle-biting finale at Manchester City: "There is no way we will be in this situation again in my time here."
Enjoying a lovely evening in the sunshine, watching local team Morton take on Dundee Utd in the first leg of the play-offs - up 1-0 at half time...
A brave performance, they were always massive underdogs. Utd came out 2nd half in different formation and went for it - with the difference in size of squads it was only a matter of time before the tie turned in their favour. 2nd leg on Friday night - it will be the 7th time the sides have played this season! Morton have done incredibly well on meagre resources, with a squad of young hungry players, who have been well motivated by manager Jim Duffy, who only just lost out to Brendan Rogers for Manager of the Year, and the expectation is that now Hibs, and either Falkirk or Dundee are promoted, it could be an easier league next season, so who knows.......
Last Madrid derby at Vicente Calderon, this was always going to be a spectacle. But never anticipated a start like this! Great fun and much more interesting than expected. I've actually had a bet on 2-0 to Atletico, never going to happen now though. Something the bookie are well aware of, offering me no more than half my bet back at the moment.
Yup! Very much dead now. Atletico to defensive after going 2 up, surrendering all initiative to Real without a fight. I respect it's a fine balance, but they really should have made Real work more in defense as that is still their weakness.
