Pochetino is a far better coach than Mourinho in my opinion. The fact he hasn't won a British trophy is mainly because of the players he has had in his sides. With the very top players at his disposal I would be extremely surprised if he didn't take a few cups and titles over the next 3/4 years. Our trouble at Saints is we get good players and coaches but can't hange on to either.
It is but those 3 managers have mostly inherited teams. Even Poch who is just about to finish his 3rd season.
I don't know that he's a far better coach, or even a better coach. I just think it's ok to say he's up there with the top ones, whether amongst them or better than them.
Jose spent a fortune, including £80-90m on one player. Surely his responsibility that he decided not to buy 3 or 4 then, if his squad wasn't as good? Poch, whether better or not, has out performed Jose with a smaller club.
Mourinho may have a greater roll of honour to his name, but he hasn't won anything other than a domestic title since 2010. Pochettino's star is surely still on the rise.
I agree on the transfer thing... but whether he's been outperformed by Poch or not is yet to be seen... I fancy Jose to finish the season with two trophies. The best managers win trophies, I fully expect Poch to do that in the future, as of now, he hasn't.
Umm he won a league and league cup double 2 years ago? I also seem to remember him winning a trophy just a couple of months ago I fancy him to pick up the Europa League too.
I said he hasn't won anything other than a domestic title. I believe the league and league cup are domestic titles. He hasn't won the Europa this season yet...

No denying it at all, both the question is, since he left Porto, has he been a winner because he was at great clubs, or was he at great clubs because he was a winner?
Probably a bit of both mate and different people would see it differently depending on their opinion of the bloke. Although they had a great team I thought his Inter treble was almost as impressive as his Porto CL win personally.
As of right now, with one trophy in the cabinet, I don't know a United fan who thinks this season has been successful. Whatever you say, Man United are the biggest club in the land, should be challenging for the title and unless Spuds fall below United, Jose he been outperformed by Poch in my eyes.
I also want to take us back to where I joined this chat (as if I'd just walked in the pub)... you'd just told Laces that it's ridiculous to call Poch a better coach than Jose. My point and all my posts on this have been to say that it is not ridiculous to say that. I'm not saying I agree he is, I'm saying it is not ridiculous to say that. The last two league performances prove that. Poch - 3rd/2nd (likely) Jose - sacked in 15th/4th or 5th (likely)
Nobody is saying Jose isn't a winner or a good coach. As I said though, I'd wager most United fans would prefer to have Poch there, and that's saying something.
When you joined I objected to Poch being one of the best 2 coaches in England (and maybe Europe!) I simply said I thought that while no doubt he's one of the brightest coaches around now, it's a tad ridiculous to place him that highly at present when he's yet to win anything. Jose was used purely as an example at this point saying that Poch is still to develop an effective plan B so I would consider Jose ahead of him tactically at present. Fair enough mate. As I say above to fats, Jose was purely an example to begin with but I admittedly got sidetracked due to the replies I got Drink may have played a part too I will meet you half way and say it's not quite 'ridiculous' to suggest he's one of the top 2 in England. But it definitely is to suggest the same about Europe imo, with the likes of Ancelotti still managing - who I consider the best out there at the moment.
On this post, again fair enough But if they do go on to win the EL, would you agree that an efl cup an EL trophy is a more sucessfull season than 2nd place and no trophy?
