Erm.. we were favourites at home against Burnley, Swansea, Middlesbrough, Watford.. Anyway, the game is over, lets see what pans out later today, see how Swansea handle the pressure. On the positive, we can go into next weeks game against Palace as our Cup Final... and it really will be. Silva's last chance to get an away win and its been coming. Beat Palace and we're probably safe.
He adjusted quite a lot. It just didn't go our way today. We didn't take our chances, struggled to break them down for the rest of the match and they took their chances. Corners have been our weak point again and the second goal shouldn't have stood anyways. It was almost back to normality for us to be honest.
So much for starting 2 up front. They never looked settled, could have been nerves aswell but they missed that extra man in midfield.
I was speaking to an Everton fan yesterday - who's usually ultra positive. He thinks they won't be arsed tonight - now that's obviously not conclusive, but telling in the sense he's usually so chipper.
We had enough openings, opportunities and real chances to win today despite their goals. Poor choices and atrocious finishing cost us dear, along with Niasse at both ends of the pitch (shock horror). The one thing that really pisses me off about relegation is the tearing apart of the squad and the loss of classy younger players who could and should be part of our side for years, becoming hero's and fan favourites. Enhanced football league coverage now leaves that as the only downer as far as I'm concerned.
Bad day at the office today, nervy, slow, pressure of it all got to a lot of them out there I`m afraid. But having said that we created some chances, but Pickford played well, and when he was beaten they had men on the line. It`s in the balance and down to who handles it better now, we need a reaction next week, I`m just hoping that Swansea get no more then a point from their game against Everton, Sunderland may well just take a bit of confidence from this and turn Swansea over next week, but even as I`m writing this its sounding a bit desperate.
True. Safety this season could have been the game changer - we'd have genuine reason for positivity (on the pitch at least)
pressure is a wonderful thing aint it ! now about those 3 cup finals, I say again, good luck with that
I didn't think we put in that bad a performance overall. It wasn't the total abject pathetic showing I expected. There was plenty of energy and desire, there was some good stuff. As I mentioned in my last post terrible finishing, terrible decisions and Niasse cost us today. Along with the odd quality save from the couple of proper attempts we did have at their goal.
