Defeat to AFC Bournemouth last time out condemned the Black Cats to relegation from the Premier League, with Josh King’s late strike following a frustrating season-long tone.
But, with four games to play, Lee Cattermole and David Moyes have both urged those in red and white to pick themselves up and build key momentum ahead of a new dawn on Wearside.
Hull City have no new injuries but defender Omar Elabdellaoui (back) is not yet ready to play, despite taking some part in training.
Sunderland's Jack Rodwell, Billy Jones and Jason Denayer are fit to return, while Sebastian Larsson is also available again following suspension.
Steven Pienaar is a doubt after suffering an ankle injury in training, while Lee Cattermole (Achilles) and Darren Gibson (groin) remain sidelined.

Marco Silva: “It will be a big mistake if anyone thinks this will be an easy game for us. We will do our best to get the three points.”

David Moyes : "Marco Silva has done a very good job. They brought in five or six players in January and that can make a big difference."

Hull City have won only one of their previous four home Premier League matches against Sunderland (D1 L2).
After beating Hull in their first four Premier League contests, Sunderland have won one of their last five against them.
A win for Marco Silva would equal Steve Bruce’s record of seven home wins in a Premier League season for Hull.
Jermain Defoe has scored four times in five Premier League matches against the Tigers.

    My two pence
Hull are playing well and showing what it's like to fight for survival, I can see us getting beat 2-0 if not more.

Can't see the Moyes news making that much difference to the game or result.

    Expecting a home win.

Just a little tale from the memory bank. Back in 1962 we played Swansea on the last game of the season and needed a win for possible promotion, they were already down but we lost promotion because of a late equaliser by them. With our current situation any result is meaningless but the performance is the usual attraction.

The devil in me says I would rather lose to Hull then beat Swansea who could maybe then accompany us down to the Championship. Just a thought to avoid our Welsh friends gloating.

I think Hull will smash us and we'll beat and relegate Swansea.

Silva hasn't been beat at home since 2014, I think. Over 40 games.

Niasse says that there's nothing to worry about - except the number of goals that they can beat Sunderland by to improve Hull's goal difference.

We will probably lose both games :emoticon-0106-cryin
