OK his stablemate Barney Roy breezed by him in the Greenham but I reckon this fella got to the front way too soon. First time hood is applied tomorrow and at prices in the 16/1 range I reckon this boy is worth an EW punt.

My middle name is not Roy. As I said earlier in the week in the 2,000 it’s CHURCHILL, named after the hill that leads up to the Church, for me. Think he should be odds-on. Have also doubled the old boy with FAIR EVA, what a lovely name for a filly by the way, in the 1,000. Hopefully, she’ll ‘bring the bounty, back to the county’. A reproduction of the awesome performance she put up in the ‘Princess Margaret’ will, in my opinion, make the old girl nigh on unbeatable. Good luck, team.

I'm torn between both Barney Roy and Eminent for the 2k. I'll likely back Eminent as he's the bigger price of the pair. He looked to have filled out rather well since last season and also ran somewhat green in the craven yet still did it easily enough. Barney Roy looked mighty impressive too, it's a decent race and hopefully it lives up to the hype and we see something special. By the way...what's with Barney and Oddy having Saturdays dinner on a Friday?
Very much against Barney Roy and Dream Castle tomorrow at these prices albeit they were both decent LTO. Eminent was also impressive but their races don't look strong enough to convert into 2K winners to me. If Barney was double figure prices then i'd probably back him but he isn't and i'm not keen. Churchill's done nothing wrong but it's a concern he's not odds on. If he was producing the absolute best times he may have been subject to a gamble and he hasn't so there may be a squeak for something else. The market before the off will be telling. Al Wukair at 5/1 is my each way play. Won the Djebel very well lto beating a fair, group one stick. Freshened up to be aimed here.

This is one of those races where it will seem so clear after the event but is a puzzle beforehand. The most likely outcome is a CHURCHILL win as the big boys deliver on the big day but he's too short for me. I'm going to play his stablemate LANCASTER BOMBER for a small stake ew play to have an interest. You should get 20s or thereabouts and being a War Front will love firm ground promised tomorrow. Agreed on the Bomber. Ridiculous price for a horse with decent form in the book already, will love the ground and the trip. Not sure Churchill wants true fast ground and wouldn't be the first time the O'Brien "second string" usurped the shorter priced one. Looks excellent e/w value at a still available 28/1. Barney Roy is my idea of the winner after his Greenham romp, and Hannon seems rather bullish. No Fabre runner can ever be ignored on these shores and shouldn't be under estimated. My 1,2,3. After the whopping that the Tories gave the rest in the local elections on Thursday only seems fitting that CHURCHILL does the same to his rivals- William Hill going 2/1 tomorrow morning on him and I shall be on! Good luck to all
Looking at the entries for Newmarket this weekend, there are some disappointing fields given the dearth of top quality horses in training (i.e. nobody scared them off) on cards where there are some valuable contests over a variety of distances. In the Palace House Stakes, I have been told Alpha Delphini, who stepped up from handicaps to win the Beverley Bullet and be beaten in a photo in a Group 3 on his last start; however, I think he is badly drawn here (the pace looks to be drawn high) and there are a couple of others I would prefer if I were betting in the race. In the Jockey Club Stakes, with Across The Stars absent, I expect Irish and Yorkshire Oaks winner Seventh Heaven to account for Pride’s son One Foot In Heaven, who needs easier ground and has to concede weight to the filly. Just five go to post for the Newmarket Stakes, where Feilden Stakes winner Khalidi looks the obvious form pick – and his trainer should have a good idea whether Permian is a threat as one of his short-headed that one last time! The dark horse is Wood Ditton winner Night Circus, who may be better than the bare form and is one of several in the notebook from that race. Those taking the short odds about Dewhurst winner Churchill in the 2000 Guineas obviously hope that last year’s champion juvenile has progressed over the winter more than some of his lightly-raced rivals. The other two Ballydoyle contenders were both well beaten in the UAE Derby, including Lancaster Bomber, runner-up in the Dewhurst when pacemaker. Whilst everyone respects Andre Fabre’s visitors to these shores, Al Wukair is a son of Dream Ahead and his form is all on easier ground. Eminent is unbeaten in two starts, the latest being the Craven Stakes over course and distance; however, I think that Frankel’s other son Dream Castle was second in the better trial at Newbury. I would be delighted if one of the Frankels won but I think Excelebration’s son BARNEY ROY is the one today. Grapevine was just beaten by hotpot Signe at Newbury and drops back a furlong in the first race at HQ, whilst Ballet Concerto steps up in trip after winning an easy ground handicap first time out; however, after a long lay-off NEXT STAGE won a valuable race on this course and going, so with no miles on the clock Saeed bin Suroor’s colt is the one. Victory Angel won a good race last time and the runner-up has scored since, so he may be ahead of the handicapper in the 4:10 (but the bookies know that, so no bet).
