This match will be a bore. We're crawling our way to the finish line and as long as we finish 3rd/4th then crawl away. With the type of teams we've had (West Brom, Stoke and Watford) it's about being patient and seeing the game out. If we go a goal up then its a shrug of the shoulders from Saints players. They go a goal up then they can just defend and slow the game down for how they see fit. This game is just a bonus to get some points.
Yeah we can afford any brainfarts. Gabbiadini looks a good striker We need to sit in tight with back 3 and cut of breaks and try control it Most important tbing is dont ****ing lose.
Gabbiadini will cause us problems. We will concede and we've only scored one goal in 3 of the last 4 games. I just hope Southampton are winding down....
must win now. I really don't think utd will rest anyone v arsenal as i think they are all but through with celta needing 2 goals. We must win and we must also hope west ham have nothing to play for the week after so i am looking at the hull and swansea results big time this weekend we really need this one. I hope saints aint pushed. THeir manager... i dunno if he can get anyhting out of them TBH.
Even if they rest anyone, they still have a good team and mourinho is a master in setting up not to lose. I don't think he's concerned about this game but his ego won't let him lose.
United have drawn 0-0 away from home to city, Chelsea and Liverpool this season. If they can repeat that v Arsenal and Spurs will be perfect for us. plus would keep their 'unbeaten' run going which everyone is banging on about despite fact half of those games were draws.
Mourinho said that didn't count Manager Jose Mourinho said his Manchester United side "didn't lose" despite being beaten 2-1 by Hull in their EFL Cup semi-final second leg. Having won the first leg 2-0, United joined Southampton in the final - to be played at Wembley on 26 February - with a 3-2 aggregate success. But Mourinho refused to acknowledge Hull had scored a penalty during the second leg at the KCOM Stadium. "I only saw two goals," said the Portuguese. "It was 1-1."
I can't help but look at arsenal and get the whiff of death. I think if nothing esle mourinho's side with get physical and bully arsenal off park. Spurs showed the way.. arsenal for a long time looked very comfortable v spurs but then just let in goals and fell away. IMO mourinho's side doesn't run enough like spurs but can bully wenger's lot. IF we get a result i think it could affect arsenal on the day.. players can just do that and it only needs one or two to drop the heads and they are gone. I am more worried about west ham even... I think my ideal is us winning and utd/arsneal drawing. Its all about swansea v everton imo.. If everton win or even draw west ham are IMO safe and will go on hols... please god this will occur. say we are on 72 and utd end up on 69 with 2 to go we have a cushion to go win the west ham game and only need a point at home last day... plus utd have to play spurs..... so a win v southampton and a draw = super sunday and time to look to get 3rd.
Jurgen Klopp has arrived and he starts by confirming Jordan Henderson is still out for this weekend's meeting with Southampton - but there's better news of Philippe Coutinho. He said: "Phil was back running yesterday, he was running a bit like John Achterberg. We can't be 100 per cent sure but in this moment it looks positive." KLOPP ON THIS WEEKEND Last weekend was a good one for Liverpool as the four teams below them all failed to win then they defeated Watford 1-0 through Emre Can's spectacular overhead kick. It leaves them in control of the race to secure a Champions League place as a top-four club - but the Reds lost their last home outing against Crystal Palace and that might leave some feeling twitchy. Klopp said: "There is positive pressure. We can go for something. We know about the quality of the opponent. I like watching Southampton. "Our plan for Sunday is to use Anfield. For some it's a nervy situation, but we need to be brave, enjoy the game & use the crowd. I understand absolutely that people are getting nervous but Anfield is always more than good. What we're going for is for all of us." KLOPP ON CAN Klopp also discusses Can, the scorer of one of the goals of the Premier League season at Vicarage Road on Monday night, and he's keen to tie him down on a new deal. The German said: "It's no secret how much I like Emre. He likes the club. We're in talks. There is no pressure, all is good. "He's able to train without issues now and that helps the situation. The biggest improvement has been with his bicycle kicks!"
And Klopp brings Can back down to earth... Emre Can scored a wonder of an overhead kick on Monday and it's no surprise that Jurgen Klopp has been discussing the German's contract situation. "After the bicycle kick everyone wants him to stay, " said Klopp. "It is no secret I like Emre. Absolutely no pressure. "The plan is to make a more simple goal if possible in the next game. Against Palace he hit ball with his heel."
Klopp not saying much about hendersons injury - he's missed a lot of games over the past two years. I genuinely would look to sell soon.
