He's clearly referencing the fact that Darwin was a Christian who struggled with his faith, but never abandoned it. Faith in science and faith in a loving creator can co-exist.

I'm sure @Onionman will soon confirm this interpretation.

That might be the theory, but it's not been the case in practice. Adkins, Pochettino and Koeman all had very different ideas about the game imo.

As for Claude, one thing we can say with certainty is that he is his own man with his own ideas, & the conviction to make his own decisions - for better or for worse, & regardless of popular opinion. Hence what sometimes seem like eccentric team selections and substitutions.

If the club have decided that backing Puel is the way to go, I'm excited about that. I expect Claude, given the opportunity and backing, to prove a lot of people wrong.

I thought it was just an evolution reference as the fish has legs and contains the dna double helix, hence a bit of a dig at some Christians who refute evolution as a theory. I think its a neat avatar personally and would like an actual sticker to put on my car

I miss the old red arrows, but will accept a less exciting style if effective. That's the area that Puel and the players have to improve on. We don't let in lots of goals....tick. But have to score more than the opposition....pending.

Hm. Our two interpretations have diverged down different evolutionary paths. I'm sure mine will be alright though as god will protect it <ok>

I am a lapsed Christian but remain one by inclination...I am also a scientist and fascinated by....well, just about everything really*. Evolution is so obviously true...just compare skeletons from completely disparate animals. The great thing about faith is you can make it fit anything...God just started the Universe with a bang and life was left to get on with it.

*Fascinated to learn recently that mushrooms are part of the animal family tree and are nearer to us than to plants. There's a bombshell for dinner parties....play havoc with vegans and vegetarians. :)

I know vegans who have banged on about mushrooms being "the meat of the field, man" for years. Bugger. You mean they have a point? Does this mean I've got to start listening to all these ageing hippies who tell me that wi-fi is part of a world conspiracy and (even more bizarre) that I should vote for Corbyn?

The team has developed into a style of play over the season and was witnessed at Sunderland, Wembley, Watford and Palace at SMS recently.
Here are my comments after the Palace game. and the match highlights..

The team is still a work in progress, but I believe it is promising for next season, given we have no EL distraction and should have key players returning.

    The road to madness.

A mushroom can also be said to be the largest living creatures...as they don't die, but just go on getting bigger. One in America covers a national park. 'Nother interesting fact....trees can't live without them. Tree roots are insufficient for such large plants....they rely on fungi mycelia to provide them with a massive spreading root system to extract minerals and water...in return they provide the fungi with food generated by their leaves.

Not quite mine (the DNA strand is unique, I think) but plenty of them around, e.g.: http://www.darwinfish.co.uk/darwinfishproducts.html

I consider evolution to be the most utterly perfect of all the theories that science has come up with. As Steve Jones summarised it in a radio programme: "It's a series of cumulative fortunate copying errors and it explains every living thing". Scientific perfection.

When I hear fundamentalist apologists trying to refute it, I feel genuine, deep sorrow for their ignorance of something so sublimely beautiful rather than annoyance at their actions.

I took it to be the Christian symbol of a fish with evolved feet and the double helix inside...indicating that Christian beliefs can live in conjunction with belief in evolution.
