You are confusing sensible people with nut jobs. I'm not on about left leaning people. I am on about the ones that will spit at Tories, shout Tory scum in your face and get nasty for having a different opinion to them. I'm not on about normal left leaning folk.

Well if this has happened to you I am disgusted. Us normal left leaning folk would obviously have nothing to do with this as would normal right leaning folk have nothing to do with the BNP and Britain First thugs. I would suggest not getting involved in minority extremist meetings / congregations where nut jobs find their homes!

It doesn't happen to me because away from my on screen moniker I am a "closet Tory." Close friends and casual comments on social platforms I am not "shy" but I wouldn't put up a poster or wear a rosette because that is just asking for trouble.

And the Left types that will be in your face if they know you are anything "right" are mostly not extremists. There are a fair share of people that think anything that isn't left is fair game for screaming at, shouting at and "bullying" despite their constant talk of acceptance, tolerance and being against bullying.

Most left leaning people are normal like most right leaning but there are many more left leaners that will be in your face than the scarce right leaners that are even public with their political opinions. If you gauged the internet platforms you would think left leaning people outnumbered right leaning by 20:1 however election results show this isn't true.

Anyway. ~What are people's forecasts for the French election? I think Macron will "hammer" Le Pen 54%-46%. Maybe with a result so slim they should have a second vote ;)

So, in conclusion, you've never met any left wing nut jobs, never actually been abused by anyone with left wing tendencies (because we are all good and decent folk) and after a nice walk to the Post Office you like to come home, fire up the laptop and wind up as many decent people as you can find on multiple forums, safe that unless you say something really offensive the police won't be crashing through your door. Why not join the Labour party and put your obvious talents to some use putting those things you don't like right? You won't get any thanks from the real Tories for wumming on football forums!

I've seen them haranging people down the high street and I personally have been "questioned" on my political leanings several times by SWP placard wavers in the high street to which I replied "None of your business mate" and walking off to mutterings. Like I said I keep my views to myself because these guys are out in the open and brazen and plentiful. Not like the skinhead yobs that get drunk sing songs and are rarely seen around.

I'm not trying to wind up anyone. The internet is full of people so full of their opinion on "the other side" that they believe what they hear each other saying and repeat repeat repeat. The other side are all racist, bigots, xenophobes, stupid, little englanders, brainswashed by "right wing" media. keep repeating and back patting.

Who is doing the winding up? Me trying to debate my side and opinion or those that are happy to pigeonhole and insult to self justify their opinion and then have each other verify that they are all on the righteous path?

Why would I want thanks from the Tories? I am not on the campaign trail here. I am giving my opinion. Is that allright with you or do you prefer it to be the one sided echo chamber where every post is moaning about the Tories with everybody happily e-patting each other on the back for being "correct."

If I see comment about something I think it is wrong then I will counter it with my opinion. I'm sorry if you think that is me trying to wind people up but it isn't.

Why would I want to join the Labour party? They have never known who they are, have always tried to unite too broad a coalition of factions that can't work together and now with the right of Tory Blairites and the left of Venezuela corbynites they are trying to unite an even broader coalition of factions.

At least the Tory factions are pretty close and while the left leaners want to think that anything right of centre is evil then they will lose elections because the reality is that normal folks vote right because the left parties in general are all over the place contradicting themselves and fighting each other rather than their opponents.

Remember that this current tit for tat all started because % of GDP spent on healthcare was considered to be an adequate measure. If so then the US must have the perfect system already seeing as they spend 16.5% of their GDP on healthcare.

I merely pointed out that % of GDP means nothing. It can mean that another country pays more than another for the same thing. And I pointed out that maybe (like Italy) our use of a goverment health institution rather than compulsory health insurance "should" mean that healthcare costs less here than in countries where private companies are the majority. It is incorrect to compare a country where healthcare is almost entirely "state funded" and therefore supposed to be cheap, with countries where private (expensive?) healthcare is much more prevalent.

There just seems to be a complete insistence from left leaning people that the NHS needs more money, Education needs more money, Councils need more money without anyone ever questioning why they always need more money. I don;t doubt the NHS hasn't got enough money to do it's job at the moment but that does not mean it actually should need that money to run. Where is all this money going?

same place as it's been going for ever. (my ex-wife works for some government agency and manages to produce in a year about 10% of what you spew out in a day and gets paid 45 grand a year - change of job?) oh and this is a football forum - say something about next weeks match! (it's against Liverpool)

And get criticised by the same people for not being a happy clapper? I hope we beat them again and then I hope we only have 4 more games of Puel. Is that enough for you? It's pointless talking about Saints on this forum unless it is all positive because you get the same reaction as a right wing view on this thread......and this is the politics thread, doesn't really matter that this is a football forum.

I'll return to posting on football when Saints return to playing good football instead of hoping to scrape a 1-0 win by passing it around midfield, crossing fingers that the opposition don;t get 2 shots because they will most likely smash and grab us and hoping that our defence can cover for a keeper that can't kick, can;t save anything not directly at him and makes me wince every time he comes out to try and punch the ball. That's not even mentioning the times when he takes an hour to clear the ball under pressure.

    .
Don't worry, I'm already married and in real life I'm actually quite content and not a moany groany type.. Just when I am typing away I unleash everything :) Most of it if it was face to face rather than on the keyboard and screen is typical British humourous moaning rather than some grumpy old man.

I go about my day quite happy and have a little jokey moan here and there but then in real life I live on a council estate in the North that just say "bloody Tories" every now and again and that's them done with politics as a subject. They spend the rest of the day (like me) getting on with life because (like me) they know life isn't fair.

So considerble gains for the Tories thus far in the local and count elections. Imp must be happy with the Conservatives regaining control of Lincolnshire. Poor old Hampshire never seems to want to get rid of the Tories, even when everyone else votes against them. So a few more years to enjoy that charming Woodward guy.

Yesterday I was debating a young lady from Lincolnshire who said "Tories always win in Lincolnshire where my vote doesn't count so it isn't worth me voting." By young I mean voting age but she was a clever girl in university.

I said to her that if you don't vote for the opposition that you want in despite them "never winning" then they will stay miles behind and never win. If you don't vote then lots of others like you won't either and so after the election you will see the same picture of the Tories miles ahead. If you do vote and other like you also vote then people will see the Tory lead reduce (even if only small) and that encourages more next time and eventually the gap reduces.

She wouldn't have it though. She just did not seem to realise that Labour actually were in control of Lincolnshire and that her vote (and all the others) might have saved Labour from defeat :)

I also wonder how clever it was to announce the GE when they did because I am sure many people voted Tory thinking that this was the GE.

Like I said way earlier in the thread. The right fight the far right while the left just moans. UKIP have just lost their seats in Lincolnshire County council. No thanks to the left not bothering to vote again.

Well it looks like the local council elections are pretty much going as expected. UKIP so far has lost all it's seats which is no surprise as I don't think anyone really knows what they stand for now that Brexit is happening. It will be interesting to see what happens in the General Election. I thought that these results would reflect more on local issues than national sentiment, so if they do, this could be a very one sided election.

    EDIT: UKIP have a seat!
