I wonder what that means in terms of the takeover? I wouldn't expect Kat to be pouring money in if she's trying to sell up. So does that mean something is already agreed behind the scenes? Or by a lot of cash do you mean £30m of the £70m we'll get for VVD and Bertrand
Nope, that doesn't hold. I haven't been closing down other's views with cliched hogwash I doubt you actually read the article I posted, but I think it would help you more than anyone. It's a gift.
I'm not having that. More than me? By the way "smugly virtuous" ... I liked that but "virtuously smug" would have been cooler.
Hmm, can't put my finger on why, I just don't fancy a website called 'owngoalnigeria' being hugely reliable
I imagine that his wages will just be too high and that we will want McQueen to step in and Targett to cover.
Does that mean we have brought in a lot of 'Cortese' style gifts then?! I imagine that is the end of Clasie then.
We get so much attention because we do develop players that are of interest and unfortunately we do have a habit of selling, so you can see why the media speculate, it is partly self-inflicted !
I kind of took the whole "surprise" thing as either we were only going to be selling fringe players and maybe VVD, or that the takeover was done and dusted and something to look forward too over the Summer. Could also be nothing of the sort!
It'd be disastrous to lose Bertrand and VVD on top of the season we've had. Entirely self inflicted to my mind. It does not happen to any other club in the league. That said we have some re-building to do no matter who is managing next season. I would expect Martina, Clasie, Long, Rodriguez, Caceres, Gardos, Isgrove and Reed should all be looking nervously/excitedly at the exit door. I wouldn't have a problem with any or all of these finding a new club bar Reed who I think has potential from the little I've seen of him. VVD, Bertrand and Tadic could be standing by waiting for the right offers. I'll be disappointed to see any of these go. Our performances have been so all over the place this year that its hard to pinpoint exactly whats needed to make it click. Our leadership seemed to come from Fonte and VVD and half our problems could come from not having leaders out there on the pitch. Davis for all his faults has a good brain and seems to dictate play when it goes well. We need more of that season as he's getting older. Defence needs repairing and we need at least one more Gabbiadini even if Gallagher returns to the fold as I don't think Long or JRod have much of a future under Puel.
No, but I never thought that the managers had much say in the transfers during their reign. I thought that the scouting team took care of that. What I was asking was, is Puel going to get a bigger say in future transfers?
It's a team effort. The manager has an input...Poch, Koeman and Puel have all had a player or two who was probably their pick. Nigel did too in the lower leagues...not so much in the summer prior to our return to the EPL. The manager will be asked what he thinks he needs and then the scouting reports are looked at and a consensus reached. Sometimes there may be urgency if a player whom we have seriously scouted becomes available....the manager would probably be expected to nod that through. Managers these days don't have the gainsay they used to, because the job has got so much bigger and they wouldn't have the time for it.
I thought the managers just looked over their lads shoulders and saw who they'd signed on a computer a game... ... perhaps it's not as easy as that.
