I'm trying to find a good home for my second hand Stasi Child. Not much call for second hand books all of a sudden. Any takers?
Wife has just finished Stasi Child and rated it extremely good and highly recommended reading so will start it. Stasi Wolf has yet to reach our local library.
Excuse the bullet points please but it seems the clearest way to make my points.: + I think of myself as a man of many hats and I've been interviewed by Burnsy wearing at least 2 of them. He is a good guy and, like someone said earlier, he remembers you if you meet him elsewhere, as I have several times. Ooh and he loves his football, especially Hull City. + I am involved with Beverley Folk Festival where, among other things, we are building up the literature section with talks by local authors etc. Any of you authors out there want a platform to plug your book in return for 20 minutes talking about either it or your experience of writing it and/or getting it published ? We are hoping to have a small local publisher there though not confirmed yet. + It was Burnsy who was the prime mover in me finding a publisher for my book, Me Sannies are Brannies, which has gone on to sell over 2000 copies including 1000 at Waterstones in Hull. + All of a sudden or alternatively All of the sudden can be found in both the Oxford and Cambridge English dictionaries. It is one of the many expressions first coined by Shakespeare – in this case The Taming of the Shrew. So, although there may not be a noun called sudden, the expression All of a sudden is perfectly acceptable English.
Following the plea by my red-haired female teacher for her students to replace aoas by suddenly I have always done so and corrected others. I was 9 when I was taught this. Perhaps she didn't read Shakespeare. My first crush. Used to give her a large bunch of chrysanthemums from my dads greenhouse and follow her home. Never came to anything!
Apologies for the self-promotion, but if anyone is interested Stasi Wolf should now be available (as a paperback) in most branches of WH Smith, Tesco, Sainsbury, Asda and Waterstones. Hopefully a few independents too -- if not they will be able to order it. Also now out as an e-book on most platforms (including Kindle) and as an audio download on Audible. Two rank bad decisions by Clattenburg/lino today ...
Just finished Stasi Child, great holiday read & I'd recommend it to all. Got Stasi Wolf waiting at home.
Lateral thinking/posting, Ben! I like it. Ian Rankin's "Saints of the Shadow Bible", charity shop, today. Between that and Happy's deffo 4-0 over the Mackems... Have a good time, all.
Cheers Ben! For anyone interested, Stasi Wolf is currently reduced to just 98p on Kindle UK - and, like Stasi Child, it's been longlisted for the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year. Here's the link: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Stasi-Wolf-Gripping-Thriller-Oberleutnant-ebook/dp/B01LY5AOI1
Stasi Winter - David's new book - now available on Kindle. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07WN8V6PN/?tag=not606-21
While we are on about self promotion, my first children's book is on sale. It's called |Oleg the Giant and is aimed at six to eight year olds. It's in paperback and Kindle. It's on Amazon but you can get it post free from the publishers, Olympia Publishing. It's the perfect Christmas present. Oh well, perhaps for next Christmas. https://olympiapublishers.com/books/oleg-the-giant please log in to view this image Look it up on Google. It comes up top of the list. There are a lot of Olegs but most of them are Russian spies.
Cheers Ernie! That's very kind of you. I didn't even have to do any self-promotion this time ). Although while I'm here, it's also available in paperback -- should be in most bookshops, inc Waterstones etc, and widely available in WH Smiths travel outlets (airports, rail stations etc). Although it's not official yet, I've just agreed a new contract -- which includes the first book of a possible new historical crime series set in ...Hull. (Not featuring the Stasi).
I’ve been on his show, last year, the day before the 45th anniversary of the loss of the Gaul. He likes to butt in but I enjoyed it. I’m supposed to be going on at the end of this month but thinking of going on Lucy Clark’s show....
