Romeu has to be the player of the year, Virgil just been out too long to be considered imo. Goal should probably be Boufal v Sunderland. Special mentions for Gabbis second at Wembley at our end and Tadic's delightful goal at West Ham.
My top five goals of the season so far would be (in no order): - Gabbiadini 2nd (3rd vs United) - Clasie vs West Brom - Boufal vs Sunderland - Boufal vs Middlesbrough - Redmond vs Watford (1st)
Top 5 and the delightful dummy from Tadic doesn't make it? Not having that, that was absolutely sumptuous(sp).
That's only the Daily Echo's shortlist ... Saints Player of the Season you could even vote for Lloyd Isgrove.
Player of the year goes to the player who has performed the best that year. Do you think Romeu has been better than VVD? Me neither.
It's got to be Romeu. If VVD hadn't been stamped on by some scrawny, gobshite chav and had kept up his form for the rest of the season it would have been a two way fight for the award, with VVD quite possibly winning it. However, he's missed half a season. It's the player of the season award and Romeu is our stand out performer over the season.
Obviously hope Boufal doesn't end up being a flop, but somewhat interesting that him, Martina and Osvaldo have been responsible for some of the recent best goals seen at St Mary's I liked Gabbi's second goal against Sunderland. Not sure if it will make the shortlist.
