I wouldn't say we are in bad form either. In fact I wouldn't say we've been in any sort of form all season. We've been consistently inconsistent, the Fabrice Fernandes of PL football teams if you like. It's been one of those sort of seasons really.
I agree but our admiration for their defensive qualities, rather misses the point that we didn't sign Sofiane for his tackling ability. So two of our most creative players were defending a lot and Dusan, shall we say, didn't have his best game
Oooof, I remember that one, curled into the far corner. Unbelievably he didn't try and beat the same player 3 times first! Was that the same game that a young Wayne Rooney scored a brace?
He certainly had his moments. Though mostly I remember him beating two defenders...then beating them both again, then cutting inside to get the ball on his left foot...then scuffing it.

Agreed. I actually thought Boufal did a fair amount of good defending Sat. Thought he was very unlucky to get subbed as Tadic wasn't any better & probably worse. If only ....
Yeah was a beauty, I was sat right behind in the Kingsland, last minute too I think. Not sure about Rooney, interested though so will check.
@Relentless Saint Supertramp You were right, a young Rooney did get a brace: My favourite quote from the narrator in that video - "but after a talking to from Wigley..."
Should say, just watched it again, and my favourite quote is infact the commentator saying "he's been learning from Marian Pahars!" Any excuse to post the following from the same season In fairness actually the commentary after that Everton goal is ****ing brilliant "YES YES YES! FABRICE FERNANDES!" then "that is drawer right out of the top - uh shot right out of top drawer"
I always felt that Saints fns missed one of his best attributes. When we'd been under the coach and then all came out to him, he'd keep it. Ok he'd go round in a circle passed the same defender three times, but that was relieving pressure on our defence. Fans would groan, but I'd applaud. Big mistake from WGS leaving him out the cup final team.
Yeah agree there, he didn't come on until around the last 5 minutes didn't he? Always thought Strachan was fearful of a hammering that day after the tonking they gave us at Highbury a few weeks before...
..but it could have been so different if that last minute was it Beattie header hadn't come off Cole on the line.
