I would rather have a manager who suprises people with his selection and subs, than a manager who sticks with systems and is predictable.
I totally understand where you are coming from however, ..... I'm not slagging him and never have done. It doesn't mean that I have to agree with everything he does. I think Southampton were there for the taking, had Hernandez been given even half a game, I have no doubt we would have scored, you only have to look at the Watford game last week. I don't understand how you can go from a performance like that where he started the move for the first goal and ran his socks off and did tonnes of defensive duties, to not even getting a game the week after, it's mind boggling to me, my brain doesn't comprehend it. There is some stats I've been looking at, I'm not going to say anything now as I was going to post a thread about it when I have the chance, but have a look when I do. I hope Marco is here for a long time, I think undoubtedly he would turn us in to a better than 17th place side, but as always, this is a discussion board and that is my opinion on the above.
But why wouldn't you want our best players playing in a game that was winnable? Hernandez is our best striker,. Niasse is good, but Hernandez is better and they play even better when played together.
Clucas took a knock and was not at his best. Hernandez is to central where as Henriksen came on and covered thenfull width of the pitch. Southampton started to get behind our defence and when Long came on they changed their shape. Henriksen worked well with Niasse, heading past a defender to get Naisse forward and have a shot. I thought the subs worked well. How many shots and corners did we get after 75 minutes?
Of course, that's why I just gave my opinion. People can say anything they want, like stick Marshall up front!
At least you've put a reasoned argument in. You have very valid points and I'm not going to argue with it. I still don't agree not playing Hernandez was the right thing, maybe I have Hernandez glasses on . Maybe we needed to be more direct though, as although we maybe created some half chances, they didn't amount to anything. I also think that plenty of people would have moaned had Hernandez played the same role as Niasse on Saturday - oh he missed chances, he scuffed the ball, all he does is run around, he hasn't scored for ages etc. etc. The other factor for me is that whilst they played ok, Niasse, Grosicki in the 2nd half and Markovic weren't as effective as they have been, so why wouldn't we try change it with Hernandez? Anyway, that's my thoughts, I'm just going to look forward to the Sunderland game now. I'm taking my 8 year old daughter to her first ever football match, hoping it's a good one for her.
Can't argue with that can I! Maybe he can punch the ball into the opposition net (without been caught by the officials of course!)
I can see it now. 90th minute against Spurs, 1-0 down and needing a point to stay up. Jak comes up for a corner and gets his head on a Grosicki cross into the top corner.
But then Swansea can beat Sunderland and West Brom. Meaning we would have to beat spurs.so I can't see us settling for a draw at palace.we need a win
I would too.1-0 down to spurs.jak scores a last minute header from a corner to keep us up. Beaten to it.
