Ref didn't even play advantage... just didn't see it as a foul

That's the point though, referees are cowards. If a player tries to stay on his feet, even if off balance and clearly been hampered by the defender's challenge, the referee thinks he doesn't have to make a decision. A player going down forces the referee to make a decision.

End of the day all forms of cheating in football only exist because referees are either mediocre at making decisions or don't have enough video support to make decisions, depending on your opinion of how hard it is to referee.

Improve referees & video support for them = less cheating.

Harsh to put all the blame at refs. The % of decisions they make that are correct is pretty good. It is just when they get huge one wrong like that. What I would say is that refs have never played the game to a decent level in most cases so don't have that knowledge as a player to use that experience to realise what is a real advantage, what is a dive etc.

Also just while talking about officials, makes me laugh wheb everyone was moaning about the one lino gave Deeney offside against us. You freeze it and he's in line and people are like 'it's a terrible decision he's clearly in line' but you move it on 0.2 seconds later and he's offside as they are moving in opposite directions. Some of those decisions are impossible and from naked eye he looked miles offside.

Thought was interesting when they were talking to Nev and Carra about those decisions and how they do have to guess in those situations. Saying how if he looks miles offside he probably is. If they look just offside, then they're probably onside when defender moves out and attacker runs through.

Really sad news about Aaron Lennon - footballers are humans first and foremost. It's why I can't stand it when people say 'if I was being paid £x per week, id take the abuse'.

Hope he gets the help he needs and recovers quickly.

Since he has been sectioned he has a long road ahead of him but at least it means everyone , hopefully including Aaron himself, is now ware of his issues and can mke plans accordingly.

Apparantly, the FA to trial sin bins.

I know MITO was all up for this and presumably it will be the in between for yellow and red card. I think in theory it's a good idea to reduce a team down but not having it as a serious red as this pretty much ruins matches.

Can't say i'm going to be a fan of this. I think it's bad enough already the amount of time wasting you see, with the introduction of the sin bin, expect more long throws, fake injuries and rolling around to be going on.

I think the only way for this to work is that every time the ball is dead, foul/throw in, free kick, penalty you stop the clock. Matches would last a lot longer though if that was to happen. Maybe reduce match time to 80 minutes?

I can't see that it achieves much, tbh. That's too much fixing for something that ain't that badly broken. I think the disciplinary procedures already in place are adequate, it's the consistent implementation that needs to be improved. I think a sin bin will only encourage even more negative play while the undermanned side tries to stifle the game until their man is back.
    It's a no from me.

How much do you want to bet refs sin bin #nomark players far more often than stars?

Working on getting the decisions right in the first place is better than giving refs a less harsh way to #bottle decisions

great stuff... works everywhere but refs need to be strong with negative minded managers who's teams then start time wasting until player comes back on.

the whole point is to tidy up the game.

cheats will cheat... put 3 or 4 of their teams off imo and be VERY strong by putting a press officer there to remind everyone that its the team who went and acted the dicks that got the sin bin not the refs fault

IMo you are also right. get that stop the clock technology in ASAP as well. You just know a guy walking slowly off taking a min to get off the ref doesn't add on. its an unwritten rule now that if a game is not 4-0 both managers hold a sub til 89mins specifically to time waste/ cover injury.

    just get it sorted IMO.

Fake ****ers.. off for 10. sit there and be embarrassed. abuse the 4th offical while there? straight red and off.

how come it works for other sports.

    :)

you are advocating giving up cos the negative cheats like mourinho can't be stopped so why bother. Just put another 2 of his cheats in the bin if he tries that ****e.

prime example is how LFC seem in capable of just pulling a guy down if he breaks form a corner etc. Watch mourinho's teams and its automatic.

Hell mr felliani got a yellow for just that. He should have been in a sin bin and he'd never have been sent off chasing down aguero would he :) result for mourinho IMO.

Christ - Mourinho can't get out of his own half as it is, if he has someone off the field he'll have the rest in the six-yard box for the duration.
All sports are different, what works for one doesn't necessarily work for others.
    You think it's a good idea, I think it's a bad one - let's just agree to disagree. <ok>

I don't like big changes like this to football, why mess with a game that we all enjoy? If football was a mess then I'd agree with changes but we all pretty much enjoy the game on the whole so it's a no to adding Ice Hockey rules from me. #stupididea

Exactly - why people want to constantly fiddle around with the game is beyond me.

Sin bins won't work in football. Works in rugby as it's a lot slower sport.

What happens if keeper gets sin binned? Can you sub in replacement for that period or do you have to stick someone else in goal?

No need for it and will just result in massive amounts of time wasting and even more diving, feigning injury, waving imaginary cards to try get players off.

Five live said the sin bin was for having a go at the ref only. (can't think of the word) nothing else...
