Dorts how long are you leaving it before you start with the "why are the Mackems still on the Prem board?" jibes? Or have you already started and I've just missed it?

FAIRWEATHER!!!!!?????? Since when has there been fairweather???? Ive supported Sunderland for about 25-30 years and I would say there has been about 5 seasons that have been anywhere near enjoyable. only 2 of those were in the Premier League. I cared more when we have been in deeper ****e than this. Like I say, I think football in general has lost something over the past few years as far as Im concerned. Overkill possibly? The fact I'm getting older? My love for the game has just been gradually getting chipped away for many reasons really.

To be fair I think quite a few of our fans feel the same way. It's been a slow and painful decline for the north east vs the big money clubs.

That said it didn't stop your lot from having a right good laugh at us last season and so we are fully obliged to give it back to you and your fellow 'fairweather fans' in any way possible that will bring a rise. :) <ok>

Have to say I'm a bit like this. I still enjoy playing football. In terms of supporting my team, I still go and still support them fully.

However football lost its soul quite some time ago. Its just not what it once was. All the diving and histrionics is just pathetic. The money has corrupted the game badly, particularly in this country. I don't care if people think its old fashioned and just an old man moaning - young lads and football has gone soft. I have been to watch local Sunday teams and it really is pathetic. They dive around, they're more concerned with their hairstyles and tattoos than anything else. You see them afterwards in the bar and they look more feminine than the lasses. I don't know what's happened and I accept I'm just getting old, but all this is not for me. Obviously its not all linked, young lads are just more feminine generally now, and it doesn't necessarily mean they're an arsehole.

I heard a 19 yr old say to the manager of a Sunday team that he hadn't turned up the previous week because his mam didn't wake him because she didn't know he had a game. It just made me angry. He's a ****ing grown man! They're so out of touch with reality, or perhaps reality is just not very palatable to me. You can multiply that by a thousand for the kids actually making it in the game. They have so much money passing through their hands, they all turn into arseholes. Its no wonder Klopp walked into Liverpool and said "right no player under the age of 17 will be paid more than £40K a year". He couldn't believe young lads of 17 and under were getting 12-15K a week. Money corrupts you unless you are taught the value of it.

Then we get to our club and the slow killing of it as we struggle to keep pace with the clubs with all the money, being run well etc etc.

All that said I can't wait to rip into the Mackems. All this we missed the time for it and apathy ****e just makes it funnier. I think we decide when the time is to do it as its for our pleasure, and the apathy shield just doesn't wash. It ****ing hurts.

Trev runs training seminars on "The true value of money and how to avoid corruption."

It's only £5,000 for a one day seminar, or you can book the full series of 5 modules for a discounted price of just £24,999.99

    I can highly recommend it.

Oh make sure you pay in cash.

And take an extra £1,000 for the refreshments and use of the cloakroom.

I remember my debut for the men's team my older brothers both played in. I was 15 but loved to tackle. Went in for a crunching one with this guy who had been putting it about. I won the ball and he hit me slightly late. It wasn't malicious just hard and slightly mistimed. I had stud marks running from my knee right up my thigh and my shorts were ripped. It was old school - the game had carried on.

We were still tangled up on the floor and he looked at me for a moment realising I was young. He said "you alright mate?" I replied "Yeah, I enjoyed that!" He looked at me, smiled and said "GOOD LAD!" and then hauled my off the floor.
    Them were the days.

Now play nicely Dorts. And treat others how you would like to be treated.

Or is it as "how others have treated you"? I can't remember.

Very true. I remember at 15 playing against Northumbria Buses. I sprinted through a gap in central defence and was running onto a ball clear on goal. I felt two arms around my waste pulling me down in a rugby tackle. I got up and looked at the ref laughing saying "What's that then?" He said "welcome to Sunday football, free kick". He didn't even have a word with the centre back. Another game against a team from Guide Post I sprinted through, rounded the keeper and put the ball in. As I jogged back to halfway being congratulated by my older striker partner, the 6ft 6in centre back said "I'll make sure you don't do that again". As I sprinted clear again he flew through the air and Eric Cantona kicked me in the thigh/hip area. There was uproar and scuffles as the older lads set about him as I was just a kid. He was right though, I got up and could barely walk let alone run. He wasn't even booked <laugh>

Now don't get me wrong I don't think you want anything quite that severe but its just gone too far the other way now. I noted it towards the end of my playing on a Sunday, I made a few tackles where I won the ball cleanly but the player rolled around, and the ref was giving free kicks and yellows. It was ridiculous, he was up sprinting around two minutes later.

<laugh> Aye, Obi mate, revenge of sorts is sweet. Regarding hypocrisy and the Apathy Shield, there were quite a few Sunland fans whooping on their Lee Charnley thread last week. Ah...they like to dish it out but can't take it back (all except wor mate Comm)

I could fancy a Greggs pastie today. I haven't had anything from Greggs in years. I wonder if you can still get the classic corned beef or cheese and onion pastie?
